Meta, OpenAI Among Companies To Face FTC Inquiry Into AI Chatbots’ Impact On Children: Report

Officials told The Wall Street Journal that the Federal Trade Commission is preparing letters to major AI developers requiring them to hand over documents detailing how children use their products and what safeguards are in place.

Bill Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), reportedly declined to disclose how he obtained the “tip” that led him to accuse Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook of mortgage fraud.&nbsp;In an&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ommFX4dKo6s">interview</a> with CNBC, Pulte said, “I’m not going to explain our sources and methods, where we get tips from, who are whistleblowers.”&nbsp;Pressed further about the source of the allegation, Pulte said revealing it would be “reckless.”&nbsp;“This is exactly why you have whistleblower protections. This is exactly why you don’t intimidate people who are your sources, who give you information,” he said.&nbsp;Last month, Pulte alleged that Cook misrepresented her assets to obtain more favorable loan terms. Goldman Sachs (GS) announced on Thursday that it plans to invest as much as $1 billion in the T. Rowe Price Group (TROW), with the intention to build a stake of 3.5%, as part of a new strategic collaboration. The company said that it will do so “through a series of open-market purchases.”The two firms said they will partner to design and distribute public- and private-market investment products tailored to wealth managers, retirement plans, and individual investors.&nbsp;It is Goldman’s only investment in an outside asset management firm. David Solomon, Chairman and CEO of Goldman, noted that the “shared legacy of success” of T. According to Glassnode, Bitcoin is consolidating between $104,000 and $116,000. “Futures and ETFs flows show cooling demand,” the on-chain analytics firm said in its weekly&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://t.co/UJAtpbXfrF">report</a>. It predicts that strength above $160,000 could revive the uptrend, but a break risks a move to below $100,000.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a>, on the other hand, climbed as much as 1.5% in the last 24 hours. Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari warned on Thursday that tariffs are driving up goods inflation, complicating the central bank’s path back to its 2% target.&nbsp;Speaking at a fireside chat at Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable, Kashkari said inflation remains “too high,” even as the labor market shows signs of cooling and the broader economy trends toward a soft landing. “We need to watch this before we come to any firm conclusions,” he noted, highlighting the risk that trade policy could add fresh price pressures.&nbsp;Kashkari noted that other parts of the economy, such as the housing sector, are experiencing declining inflation. “This is happening as we expected. It doesn’t mean home prices are falling. This doesn’t mean rents are falling. It means the growth of rents and growth of home prices are slowing down,” he said.&nbsp;As a result, Kashkari said that average inflation is "going sideways.” He pointed out that this puts the Fed in a “tricky” situation, given its dual mandate to maintain maximum employment alongside stable prices.“I have every reason to believe the cooling we’re seeing will probably continue,” Kashkari pointed out, but said that he doesn’t expect a recession. “Interest rates have some room to come down gradually over the next couple of years,” he added, noting that he was confident that the Fed would be able to control inflation pressures.U.S. equities were mixed in afternoon trade on Wednesday. I’ll know pretty much what we’ll be doing,” Trump said. “We’ve taken very strong action, as you know.
