Warner Bros. Discovery-owned HBO on Thursday announced the season renewal of two “Game of Thrones” franchise series, extending each series' run through 2028.
Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content Casey Bloys announced the renewal of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and “House of the Dragon,” with both series being aired on HBO and available to stream on HBO Max.
HBO said that “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has been renewed for a second season, ahead of the first season debut in January next year. The second season will debut in 2027.

The company noted that the third season of the HBO Original drama series “House of the Dragon” will debut in Summer 2026. Ahead of the third season, HBO has renewed the series for a fourth season, which would debut in 2028.
“We are thrilled to be able to deliver new seasons of these two series for the next three years, for the legion of fans of the Game of Thrones universe,” said Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films.
The first “Game of Thrones” show was first aired on HBO in the United States in 2011 and concluded in 2019 with the eighth season.
Retail sentiment on Warner Bros. Discovery remained unchanged in the ‘extremely bullish’ territory, with message volumes at ‘high’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits.
Shares of Warner Bros. Discovery have gained nearly 129% in the last 12 months.
