Update: OpenAI says ChatGPT and other impacted services, including its API, have now fully recovered following an issue that disrupted access for more than three hours.
ChatGPT was experiencing technical issues, and the AI startup acknowledged the problem and said it was investigating. “ChatGPT and Platform websites are down for some users. We are investigating the issue for the listed services,” OpenAI had said earlier in a status update.

Service tracking website Downdetector showed a massive spike in OpenAI outage reports, with users complaining that ChatGPT was either completely down or that its responses were slow.

OpenAI is not publicly listed. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around the company trended in the ‘neutral’ territory at the time of writing.
OpenAI’s latest update shows the issue is now resolved. “A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the recovery,” it said.
Earlier, the company identified that issues with ChatGPT were due to another third-party service provider. “We have confirmed that the incident is caused by an issue with one of our third-party service providers,” the company said.
The ChatGPT outage has also affected OpenAI’s API, which allows developers to incorporate the company’s large language models into their apps, websites, or other services.
So far this November, OpenAI has reported issues with ChatGPT 12 times, including the outage on Tuesday. October was similarly prone to problems, with ChatGPT facing issues on 18 out of 31 days.
Tuesday’s issues with ChatGPT coincide with an outage at Cloudflare Inc. (NET) that took down social media platform X, ChatGPT, and other parts of the internet. Cloudflare services are used by nearly 20% of all the websites on the internet, according to the company.
