Amazon.com (AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos reportedly said that people should be thrilled about artificial intelligence (AI) and not discouraged about it.

“I don’t see how anybody can be discouraged who is alive,” said Bezos, during a panel discussion at Italian Tech Week 2025 in October, according to a CNBC report.

”[AI will make every business’] quality go up and their productivity go up ... Every manufacturing company, every hotel, every consumer products company ... That’s hard to fathom, but it’s real,” he said.

According to the report, Bezos noted that different industries will all use AI at different rates, although he said he could not outline a timeline for this. He also said that AI is in an “industrial bubble,” presently with stocks trading at record highs and investors struggling to figure out “the good ideas and the bad ideas.”

According to the CNBC report, Bezos said the “winners” from AI, who will use it to advance research and development irrespective of the industry, will provide “gigantic” benefits to society. “There’s never been a better time to be excited about the future,” he said.

Retail sentiment on Amazon remained unchanged in the ‘bearish’ territory compared to a day ago, with message volumes at ‘high’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits. Shares of Amazon have gained nearly 13% in the last 12 months.

The report added that not many people agree with what Bezos expressed, according to Pew Research Center data, which was published on Wednesday. In a global survey, a median of 34% of adults told Pew they’re more concerned than excited about “the rise of AI in daily life.”

According to Pew, 42% said they’re equally concerned and excited, and 16% said they’re more excited than concerned, the report stated. It noted that worries over AI are stronger in the U.S., where 50% of respondents told Pew they were more concerned than excited, and 38% said they were equally concerned and excited.
