Netflix (NFLX) is reportedly looking to expand its current two-game package to four games for the National Football League.
The streaming giant is interested in adding the National Football League’s new Thanksgiving Eve game and an international game, likely in the season’s opening week, a Wall Street Journal report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Netflix is in the final year of its three-year Christmas Day game package, for which it paid about $75 million a game.
Google’s YouTube, which last season carried an international game and has the rights to the Sunday Ticket package offering out-of-market games, has expressed interest in additional games, the report added.
Several broadcast partners, including Amazon—the provider of Thursday Night Football—are reportedly open to adding additional games.
The NFL is looking to renegotiate its contracts with current rights holders, partly inspired by the NBA’s profitable new agreement with ESPN and NBC. The league’s existing deals with CBS, NBC, and Fox include an opt-out option following the 2029-30 season.
Netflix last week raised its Standard subscription prices in the U.S. and discontinued its basic plan.
Netflix’s Standard with ads plan was increased to $8.99 per month while its Standard plan’s new price was at $19.99 per month. The new prices are in place for new subscribers, however, the company didn’t mention any specific date for these changes in prices to become effective for existing subscribers.
Retail sentiment around NFLX stock trended in ‘bearish’ territory amid ‘low’ message volume.
Shares in the company have fallen 1.2% so far in 2026.
