According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), on a seasonally adjusted basis, CPI rose 0.2% in January, after rising 0.3% in December.</p><p>The Bureau of Labor Statistics <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/us-consumer-inflation-january-2026-cpi-report/cZR5t5IR4sz">reported</a> that food prices increased by 0.2% in January, as five out of six main grocery categories experienced upticks. Additionally, both the shelter and rent indexes also climbed by 0.2% for the month.</p><p>The report comes weeks after the U.S. Federal Reserve in its latest FOMC meeting statement had said that inflation was somewhat elevated, which prompted them to keep the benchmark interest rates steady.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Near-Term Inflation</h2><p>U.S. citizens expect lower inflation in the near-term, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As part of its latest Survey of Consumer Expectations (SCE), the apex bank <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/american-expect-lower-near-term-inflation-as-per-ny-fed/cZbv3yIR4oK">said</a> that inflation expectations one year from now stood at 3.1% in January compared with 3.4% in December, while at the three- and five-year-ahead horizons, expectations held steady at 3%.</p><p>Meanwhile, U.S. equities ended the week in green. At the time of writing, the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY), which tracks the S&amp;P 500 index, was fell by 0.04%, the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (QQQ) rose 0.10%, while the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) also rose 0.10%. The Treasury Department also emphasized that dealings with organizations from Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, and China remain forbidden.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Venezuela Hydrocarbon Law</h2><p>The license announcement comes after Venezuela’s interim government made tweaks to its hydrocarbon law in bid to ease state control on its oil industry. However, major U.S. firms have been steering clear of making investments in Venezuela.&nbsp;</p><p>Many companies including Chevron have signaled that it aims to raise its oil output in Venezuela. Trump Approves More Venezuela Investment From Oil Firms

The Treasury Department on Friday issued a general license allowing certain large oil companies to invest in new oil-and-gas operations in the Latin American country.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The rights will be exercisable only if a person or group acquires 10% or more of the company’s outstanding common stock.</li><li>The rights will expire on February 12, 2027, unless the rights are earlier redeemed or exchanged.</li></ul><p>Jet.AI on Friday announced the adoption of a limited duration stockholders’ rights and declared a dividend distribution of one preferred share purchase right on each outstanding share of the company’s common stock.</p><p>The company said that the rights are designed to assure that all of its stockholders receive fair and equal treatment in the event of any proposed takeover of the firm and to guard against abusive tactics to gain control of the company without paying all stockholders a premium for that control.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">More On Rights Adoption</h2><p>The company said that the adoption of new rights will not prevent a takeover but should encourage anyone seeking to acquire the company to negotiate with the Jet.AI’s board prior to attempting a takeover.</p><p>The rights will be exercisable only if a person or group acquires 10% or more of the company’s outstanding common stock.</p><p>The dividend distribution will be made on February 24, 2026, payable to stockholders on that date and is not taxable to stockholders. The firm noted that Roku is on Wedbush's Best Ideas List given accelerating monetization with an underappreciated runway.&nbsp;</p><p>JPMorgan analyst Cory Carpenter reiterated Roku as a top pick with an ‘Overweight’ rating and $125 price target post the Q4 report.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Q4 Report</h2><p>Roku reported a 16% jump in its fourth-quarter revenue on a year-over-year basis. The firm views Q4/Q1 Gross Transaction Value (GTV) acceleration reflective of broader industry trends and estimates that Instacart is still ceding market share to DoorDash (DASH), Uber (UBER), and Amazon (AMZN). We plan to deploy growth capital to build the best customer experience in Predictions, and acquire millions of customers. We have the playbook to execute and win.”</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Q4 Highlights</h2><p>DraftKings for the three months ended December 31, 2025, reported revenue of $1,989 million, an increase of $596 million, or 43%, compared to $1,393 million during the same period in 2024.</p><p>The increase in the company’s fourth quarter 2025 revenue was driven primarily by continued healthy customer engagement, efficient acquisition of new customers, and higher Sportsbook net revenue margin, according to the company.&nbsp;</p><p>“We closed 2025 on a high note. Fourth quarter revenue increased 43% year-over-year and we achieved records for revenue and Adjusted EBITDA,” said Robins.&nbsp;</p><p>DraftKings’ Average Revenue per MUP (“ARPMUP”) was $139 in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing a 43% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This forced Coinbase to mark down the value of its crypto holdings.&nbsp;</p><p>The company said its total operating expenses were $1.5 billion, up 9% from the year-ago quarter.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Weak Bitcoin</h2><p>Bitcoin and other digital assets are grappling with a significant downfall in their prices as selling pressure continues to weigh on cryptocurrencies even as institutional demand has stabilized after outflows over several weeks.</p><p>“Crypto is cyclical, and experience tells us it’s never as good, or as bad as it seems.
