Riot stated that it expects to generate approximately $311 million in revenue from the AMD lease, which has been signed for an initial period of 10 years. The company stated that there are three five-year extension options, which could generate up to $1 billion in total contract revenue if fully exercised.
“I am pleased to share the substantial progress we have made at Rockdale, which expands our fully approved data center power portfolio to 1.7 gigawatts and, through the signing of a data center lease with AMD, firmly establishes Rockdale as a leading data center development opportunity,” said Jason Les, CEO of Riot.
Riot added that the initial deployment will leverage Riot’s existing infrastructure at the Rockdale site. The company has also begun retrofitting one of its existing facilities, with final delivery to AMD expected in May 2026.
Riot stated that it had operated the Rockdale site previously on a long-term lease. The site, purchased via a sale of Bitcoin, is now fully owned and operated by Riot. It has 700 megawatt interconnection to the grid, dedicated water supply, and fiber connectivity.
Riot said that it intends to convert the entirety of 700 MW capacity for data center tenants. The company now owns over 1,100 acres and 1.7 gigawatt of power capacity across its two facilities in Texas.
RIOT stock is up 47% year-to-date, while AMD stock is up 9%.
