Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Both wanted to create a fun cryptocurrency that will appeal beyond the core Bitcoin audience. Dogecoin is primarily used as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter where users tip each other for creating or sharing good content. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Apple’s stock has recovered in the second half but continues to lag mega-cap peers, weighed down by slowing iPhone and investor unease over delayed AI execution.</li><li>Despite near-term skepticism, core fundamentals remain resilient, with improving iPhone shipment trends—particularly in China.</li><li>2026 could emerge as a turning point, as deeper AI integration via a revamped Siri reignites upgrade cycles.</li></ul>After a forgettable performance in the first half of the year, Apple’s (AAPL) stock has staged a comeback in the second half of the year. Even with these gains, the stock is on track to record a more muted gain relative to its mega-cap tech peers. Granted, the stock scaled a new peak ($288.62) this month, but the returns are underwhelming, at least relatively.&nbsp;Does&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL">Apple stock</a> no longer hold out promise for cherry-picking investors? What has held them back?<h2 class="st-heading-2">Apple’s Checkered Stock Run</h2>Cupertino’s stock entered the year a little jaded after a nearly eight-month run culminated in a new high of $260.10 on Dec. 26, 2024. It was locked in a downtrend until the Trump-tariff market bottom of early April. Since then, the stock has been showing a fits-and-starts recovery, with the uptrend solidifying from November.<img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Apple_stock_trajectory_2_year_png_39b42a6224.webp" alt="Apple stock trajectory 2 year.png">Source: KoyfinThe stock has generated a positive return for the year, but it is the second-worst performer among the Magnificent Seven group.<img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Apple_YTD_Returns_png_be92f4abd5.webp" alt="Apple YTD Returns.png">Source: Koyfin<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Apple’s Stock Has Lagged</h2>Very often, Apple’s limited progress with its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives has been blamed for the stock setback. Incidentally, the same headwind propped up the stock when most AI-exposed big names took a tumble in November amid the rising fears about a bubble building. The stock weakness, therefore, may have to do with much more than the delay.&nbsp;iPhone, the cash cow, has seen declining revenue growth after the post-COVID-19 spike seen in 2021. Nevertheless, iPhone sales accounted for 50% of the company’s total revenue in the fourth quarter ended Sept. 2025, and the installed base of iPhones clocked a record.&nbsp;<img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/i_Phone_From_Cash_Cow_to_Growth_Drag_png_ad87285a04.webp" alt="iPhone_From_Cash_Cow_to_Growth_Drag.png">Source: Fiscal.aiLack of innovation and any meaningful AI integration, and competitive pressure in China has all served to keep volumes from growing substantially.The services business, which has a higher margin, still accounts for a sizeable portion of the total revenue, but the rate of growth has slowed substantially from the 2021 peak (27.3%).<img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Apple_Services_Growth_Plateaus_png_0fc8eace56.webp" alt="Apple_Services_Growth_Plateaus.png">Source: Fiscal.aiApple has not been successful in bringing any breakthrough product to the market since the iPhone. The Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, launched in 2024, could not make much of an impact due to a host of reasons, and the Apple Car project was quietly shelved. The company’s recent string of executive departures has raised doubts among investors about its long-term direction.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail Feels About Apple Stock</h2>Apple’s recent stock strength has managed to turn around retail traders’ sentiment. After wallowing in ‘bearish’ terrain for much of the year, the mood has turned ‘bullish’ in recent weeks.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:724/440;" src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Screenshot_2025_12_22_at_5_05_28_AM_png_61e7f92d16.webp" alt="Screenshot 2025-12-22 at 5.05.28 AM.png" width="724" height="440"></figure>A watcher expressed optimism that Apple’s stock would hit $300 as it launches AI glasses and Camera AirPods. Another user pointed to strong uptake of the company’s products. “Apple stores in London are packed out, good sign,” they said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Will 2026 Mark An Inflection Point?</h2>Data points on iPhone uptake during the December quarter, the busiest one for Apple, raise hopes of substantial numbers. In a report released earlier this month, IDC said accelerated Apple’s holiday shipments will help worldwide smartphone shipments to rise 1.5% year over year in 2025.Commenting on Apple’s strength, IDC’s Senior Research Director Nabila Popal said:<blockquote>“Apple is set to have a record year in 2025 with shipments forecast to cross 247 million units, thanks to the phenomenal success of its latest iPhone 17 series.”</blockquote>The analyst said the iPhone 17 is seeing massive demand in China, ranking first in October and November and taking more than 20% share, miles ahead of the competition. IDC, therefore, revised Apple’s fourth-quarter China sales forecast from 9% to 17%.Apple could also get a shot in the arm from deepening its AI integration. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the apex cryptocurrency remained in ‘neutral’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY)&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DXY">edged</a> 0.5% lower in midday trade, with retail sentiment trending in the ‘bearish’ zone over the past day amid ‘high’ levels of chatter.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Risk Assets Stand To Gain</h2>In a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://pomp.substack.com/p/qe-is-back-and-asset-prices-are-going?publication_id=1383&amp;post_id=181330023&amp;triggerShare=true&amp;isFreemail=true&amp;r=6dosj5&amp;triedRedirect=true">post</a> on Substack, Pompliano wrote that periods of quantitative easing have historically lifted markets by pushing investors away from cash and toward assets that benefit from lower discount rates.&nbsp;He predicted that stocks, Bitcoin, and real estate typically outperform once policymakers increase the money supply and make borrowing cheaper. He also said the U.S. dollar and short-term cash-like instruments tend to weaken because yields fall and purchasing power erodes.Pompliano added that long-duration assets, including tech stocks and venture-backed companies, often see the strongest response because their valuations rely heavily on future cash flows, which become more attractive when rates drop. The decision included three dissents, including two officials who supported no change and Fed Governor Stephen Miran, who preferred a deeper 50-basis-point cut.The rate move was widely expected on Wall Street. The unexpected development was the central bank’s plan to resume balance-sheet expansion by purchasing $40 billion in monthly Treasury bills, marking a return to asset accumulation after months of quantitative tightening.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Investors Position For A ‘Liquidity Wave’</h2>Pompliano said the renewed bond-buying will likely lower yields further and push investors into higher-risk corners of the market. When the Fed increases liquidity, borrowing costs fall, confidence improves, and asset demand rises, he wrote.He also pointed to several deflationary forces he believes are converging on the U.S. economy. According to Pompliano, trends in AI, robotics, and tariffs each carry deflationary effects on their own but together create conditions that could challenge the Fed’s ability to manage monetary policy effectively.Overall, Pompliano stated that the return of QE is likely to leave investors “very happy,” given its historical impact on asset prices. U.S. equities were mixed in midday trade on Thursday. The firm reiterated a ‘Buy’ rating on the stock, joining Deutsche Bank and HSBC in their bullish view.&nbsp;This week, HSBC initiated coverage of MU with a ‘Buy’ rating and $330 price target, while Deutsche Bank raised its target on the stock to $280 from $200 with a ‘Buy’ rating, as per TheFly.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What’s Driving The Price Hikes?</h2>While Citi noted that MU will benefit from the "unprecedented increases" in DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) pricing, HSBC noted that the market is severely underestimating the impact of the DRAM commodity rally while also not factoring in the upside from eSSD market share gain, adding that it believes there is "plenty of room for further growth”.DRAM is a high-speed working memory deployed in devices like computers and servers to store and process data. It is critical to power the growing demand for AI and surging data center workloads. According to the&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.trendforce.com/news/2025/11/19/insights-memory-spot-price-update-ddr5-prices-up-307-since-september-as-module-costs-poised-to-surge/">latest TrendForce report,</a> spot prices of DRAM DDR5 2Gx8 chips soared by over 307% from September to November.&nbsp;Analysts are focusing on MU ahead of its quarterly report, scheduled for December 17.
