<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Apple’s iPhone sales in China climbed 37% year over year (YoY) in October.</li><li>The new Huawei flagship model, scheduled to be launched next week, could temper Apple’s strength.</li><li>But a market research analyst predicted no significant impact.</li></ul>Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) China woes may be a thing of the past, as the tech giant has reportedly outperformed the market in terms of sales of its latest iPhone iteration.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL">Apple stock</a> has lagged behind most of its mega-cap rivals this year, with the softness partly attributable to the China risk amid the ongoing standoff between the U.S. and China, as well as the imposition of tariffs and counter-tariff measures.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Apple’s Positive China Tidings</h2>The Tim Cook-led company’s China iPhone sales climbed 37% year over year (YoY) in October, thanks to a strong showing by the iPhone 17 Series, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-11-18/apple-s-iphone-sales-surge-in-china-to-take-25-market-share?srnd=homepage-asia">reported</a>, citing data from Counterpoint Research. iPhones accounted for one of every three smartphones sold in China during the month — a threshold the company hasn’t reached since 2022. New iPhone models accounted for over 80% of the total iPhones sold in China in October.Each of the iPhone 17 variants outperformed their respective models from the previous iteration (iPhone 16) by double-digit percentage. More importantly, Apple’s resurgence in China helped lift sagging smartphone industry sales in the country to 8% growth.Counterpoint analyst Ivan Lam said, “We’re likely to see growth amplified as rising ASPs push the top-line higher.”Among other vendors, Oppo clocked 19% YoY sales growth in October. On the other hand, Apple’s chief rival in China, Huawei, experienced a YoY sales decline as it did not release any new models. The equation could change in the coming weeks, as Huawei is set to release a new flagship smartphone model next week.For now, Lam said iPhone demand trends remain steady. Apple is on track to meet its prediction of returning to growth in the Chinese market, based on new data on iPhone sales in the country.  

<ul><li>In August, San Francisco, California-based Databricks said it had signed a term sheet for its Series K round, with backing from existing investors.</li><li>That funding round valued the company at more than $100 billion.</li><li>The company surpassed a $4 billion revenue run rate during the second quarter.</li></ul>Databricks, a cloud-based data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) platform provider, is reportedly seeking to raise fresh financing, with the proposed funding round valuing the private company at over $130 billion.The report arrives even as investors, particularly those seeking exposure to AI names, look ahead to the company’s public listing, rumored to occur either in late 2025 or early 2026. In a short report released in mid-August on Palantir Technologies, Inc. (PLTR), Andrew Left's Citron Research called Databricks the “most significant threat” to the Alex Karp-led company.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What We Know About Databricks’ Funding Round</h2>Databricks is in talks to raise funds at a valuation 30% higher than its previous financing round, The Information reported, citing two people familiar with the discussions.In August, San Francisco, California-based Databricks said it had signed a term sheet for its Series K round, with backing from existing investors, valuing the company at more than $100 billion. The company stated then that it expects to utilize the new capital to “accelerate its AI strategy — expanding Agent Bricks, investing in its new database offering Lakebase, and fueling global growth.”Databricks announced a partnership with OpenAI in late September to bring frontier Intelligence to enterprises with Databricks' “Agent Bricks.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Databricks — A Rising AI Powerhouse?</h2>The company, founded in 2013 by the original creators of the lakehouse architecture and open source projects Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Unity Catalog, boasts of over 15,000 companies as among its customers, with more than 60% of the Fortune 500 companies relying on its platform.Investors in the company include BlackRock, Salesforce Ventures, Microsoft, Tiger Global, Franklin Templeton, Sinewave Ventures, Fidelity Investments and Andreessen Horowitz.Databricks announced in early September that it had surpassed a $4 billion revenue run rate in the second quarter, with year-over-year (YoY) growth exceeding 50%. The company’s AI products reached a $1 billion run rate earlier this year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Potent Palantir Rival?</h2>Citron already views Databricks as a giant, bracketing the company alongside Microsoft. In comparison, the iPhone 16 series saw a 5% YoY drop in the first month following its launch in 2024.Overall, smartphone sales fell 2.7% YoY in China in the third quarter, the report said.&nbsp;The solid performance in China should bode well for Apple, which counts the country as one of its key end markets and also a key supply chain.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Apple’s AI Lag&nbsp; A ‘Blessing In Disguise’</h2>Market watchers attribute the relative resilience of Apple’s stock amid the AI-induced sell-off to the company’s slow adoption of the technology. Apple’s China iPhone 17 Sales Outperform Industry: Stock Slips Premarket Amid Souring Tech Sentiment

Apple’s slow AI adoption has insulated the company from the recent AI-led sell-off, according to market watchers.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>CFO Mark Patterson stated that the company achieved solid margins and operating cash flow.&nbsp;</li><li>He also noted that artificial intelligence (AI) continued to build and referred to the ramp-up of a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar campus refresh opportunity.</li><li>The company also experienced strong demand for refreshed networking products.</li></ul>Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) shares climbed over 7% in extended trading as investors cheered the networking giant’s quarterly beat and upbeat guidance. Retail sentiment toward&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CSCO">Cisco’s stock</a> also improved notably to very buoyant levels.If the after-hours session’s gains are sustained in Thursday’s session, the stock appears on track to record its best day since early April.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cisco’s Q1 Earnings Snapshot</h2>San Jose, California-based Cisco reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1 per share on revenue of $14.88 billion, exceeding the consensus estimates of $0.98 and $14.78 billion. The quarterly results also marked an improvement from the $0.91 per share adjusted earnings and $14.78 billion revenue the company reported for the year-ago quarter. Revenue climbed 8% year over year (YoY), with product revenue up a steeper 10%.The results also exceeded the company's guidance ranges issued in mid-August.On the earnings call, Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins attributed the revenue growth to robust demand for our AI infrastructure and campus networking solution, according to a Koyfin transcript. “We had a solid start to fiscal 2026, and Cisco is on track to deliver our strongest year yet,” the executive said.&nbsp;He noted that orders from service providers and cloud customers&nbsp;remained very strong, up 45% YoY, driven by high double-digit growth in hyperscalers. AI infrastructure orders taken from hyperscalers totaled $1.3 billion, he added.CFO Mark Patterson stated that the company achieved solid margins and operating cash flow. He noted that artificial intelligence (AI) continued to build and referred to the ramp-up of a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar campus refresh opportunity. The finance chief also signaled strong demand for refreshed networking products.Among operational metrics, remaining performance obligations (RPO) were at $15.7 billion at the end of the quarter, compared to $16.1 billion at the end of the fiscal year 2025.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cisco’s Capital Return</h2>The company said its board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.41, payable on Jan. 21, 2026, to shareholders of record as of Jan. 2, 2026.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cisco’s Outlook</h2>For the second quarter, Cisco expects adjusted EPS of $1.01-$1.03 and revenue of $15 billion-$15.2 billion. Analysts, on average, expect the metrics to come in at $0.99 and $14.64 billion.The company has raised its full-year guidance, now modeling adjusted EPS of $4.08 to $4.14, up from its previous estimate of $4.00 to $4.06. It also&nbsp;raised its revenue guidance to $60.2 billion to $61 billion, up from $59 billion to $60 billion. The new guidance exceeded the consensus estimates of $4.04 and $59.68 billion, respectively.On the earnings call, Robbins said AI infrastructure revenue from hyperscalers will likely hit about $3 billion in the fiscal year 2026.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail Feels About Cisco’s Stock</h2>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward the stock improved to ‘extremely bullish’ as of late Wednesday, from ‘bullish’ a day before.
