Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative that has been used in the U.S. for decades in multi-dose vials of vaccines, as well as in medicines. While the Public Health Service agencies, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and vaccine manufacturers reached an agreement in 1999 to reduce or eliminate the use of thimerosal in vaccines as a precautionary measure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that there is no evidence that this preservative causes harm. However, the CDC does say there could be minor reactions like redness and swelling at the injection site.

David Geier reportedly has ties to RFK Jr., according to Bloomberg – the Health Secretary is said to have tapped Geier to work on vaccine safety issues at the Department of Health and Human Services. RFK Jr. has come under pressure to resign from his position, with over 20 health groups warning that his sweeping changes to the vaccine policies threaten decades of medical progress.

Meanwhile, U.S. equities gained in Monday’s midday trade. At the time of writing, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), which tracks the S&P 500 index, was up 0.17%, while the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose 0.52%. Retail sentiment around the S&P 500 ETF on Stocktwits was in the ‘bullish’ territory.
