Rocket Lab’s In-house Satellite Separation Systems

The space major said its satellite separation systems, called Canisterized Satellite Dispensers (CSDs), played a critical role in delivering payloads and conducting small satellite experiments during the Artemis II mission. The CSDs are designed to precisely launch satellites at the right time, velocity, and orientation to carry out their missions, the company said in a statement. In addition, the CSDs are also designed to operate in high Earth orbit - in some cases, up to 40,000 kilometers from Earth.

Rocket Lab also said that in the Artemis II mission, its satellite separation systems launched all four satellites into their desired orbits.

Rocket Lab also stated that it hosted the Space Development Agency team at its California headquarters, where the company configured a spacecraft production complex. In addition, the company also said that this complex is specifically designed to meet the demands of national security space missions.
