Hotter-than-expected inflation revived fears of further Fed rate hikes and weighed on the tech-heavy Nasdaq, with chip and AI-linked stocks particularly weak. Traders are divided over whether the selloff is a buyable pullback or the start of a deeper unwind in the AI trade, citing concerns about financing and spending.

CoreWeaves sharp selloff is being driven by concerns that heavy borrowing and high financing costs leave it vulnerable if AI infrastructure spending fails to generate sufficient returns, amplified by Gartners warning that many neocloud providers may not survive independently. Traders are split between fears of financial distress and bankruptcy and dip-buying arguments that contracted demand, the companys backlog, and potential Nvidia support could help it weather the pressure.

Nebius is caught in a selloff across AI infrastructure and neocloud stocks after Gartner warned that many independent providers could fail or consolidate by 2030; hot inflation and concerns about CoreWeaves borrowing costs have added to worries about funding and AI spending. Traders are divided between seeing the decline as a warning about valuations and financing risks and treating it as a buying opportunity, with some arguing Nebius is better positioned than CoreWeave.
