WeRide has also featured among Ark’s recent China-linked additions as the firm refocuses on AI and autonomous driving.<h2 class="st-heading-2">WeRide Builds Global Presence</h2>WeRide, a Guangzhou-based autonomous driving company, operates robotaxi and self-driving services and has expanded its fleet to more than 1,000 vehicles, with driverless operations in cities including Beijing and Guangzhou.In November, the company raised HK$2.39 billion, or about $308 million, through its Hong Kong share sale, becoming one of several U.S.-listed Chinese firms pursuing secondary listings amid ongoing delisting concerns. WeRide said proceeds from the offering would be used to advance autonomous-driving technology, scale robotaxi commercialization and support overseas expansion.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Citi Flags Near-Term Catalyst</h2>On Monday, Citi added a “90-day upside catalyst watch” on WeRide while maintaining a ‘Buy’ rating and a $15.3 price target, which implies about 73% upside from current levels.Citi said potential upside could come from Waymo’s possible financing round in the first quarter at an implied valuation of 280 times 2025 price-to-sales, which the firm said could re-rate WeRide’s valuation, currently equating to 34 times 2025 price-to-sales. The brokerage also said it expects improving sentiment around WeRide’s possible entry into the Southbound Stock Connect in June.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Tesla’s Position Inside Ark Shifts</h2>Ark’s increased activity in WeRide comes as Tesla’s position in the Ark Autonomous Technology &amp; Robotics ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ARKQ">ARKQ</a>) has eased. Recent portfolio disclosures show Kratos Defense &amp; Security narrowly overtaking Tesla as Ark’s largest holding in ARKQ, with Tesla now ranking second, followed by Teradyne and Rocket Lab. Cathie Wood’s ARK Loads Up On WeRide Stock While Tesla Loses Top Spot On Its Robotics ETF 

The WeRide trade follows Ark’s earlier reduction in Chinese stock exposure during Beijing’s regulatory crackdown in 2021.

She added that since the end of the U.S. equity bear market in late 2022, gold prices have surged 166%.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bitcoin Versus Gold</h2>Wood said Bitcoin’s recent price weakness does not undermine its long-term thesis. She said that, usually, gold rallies this hard when inflation fears are mounting. However, this time around, it’s possible that global wealth has grown faster than gold supply, pushing demand beyond what miners can easily produce.Unlike gold, Bitcoin can’t increase supply when prices rise. Its inflation rate is built into the code and gets smaller over time. That scarcity, plus its low correlation with stocks, bonds, and even gold itself, makes Bitcoin a powerful tool for diversification over the long run, Wood noted. Despite short-term weakness, Bitcoin has still risen roughly 360% since late 2022.Wood noted that while gold may be benefiting from near-term demand dynamics, Bitcoin is “playing the long game”. Since 2020, Bitcoin has shown very low correlation with stocks, bonds, gold, and commodities. This makes it a potential diversifier in institutional portfolios.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Different Roles In Portfolios</h2>Wood suggested that gold’s recent price action likely reflects its use as a hedge amid geopolitical uncertainty and tariff hearings around the corner. ARKW dipped more than 14% over the last three months of 2025, ARKK fell more than 10%, and ARKF was the worst hit – down over 16%.&nbsp;&nbsp;The report said the underperformance across the three ETFs occurred during a period of heightened volatility. October saw one of the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/crypto-markets-hit-by-500-million-liquidation-after-trumps-tariff-threat-on-china/ch6Oc3OR3j2">worst cryptocurrency crashes</a>, with over $19 billion liquidated in a single day. It also noted that trading activity declined thereafter on centralized crypto exchanges such as Coinbase.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Stocks Weigh On ARK Portfolio</h2>COIN’s stock was the single largest detractor in ARKF, falling 2.31% over the quarter. BMNR’s stock declined 1.48%, while shares of Robinhood slid 1.26%. All three ranked among the bottom five contributors to fund performance during the period.The same was reflected in the other two portfolios. In ARKK, Coinbase and Bitmine also ranked among the five largest detractors, with COIN down 2.07% and BMNR down 1.45% during the quarter.
