Carvana Chairman Cashes Out Again — But Retail Traders Aren’t Flinching

The electric vehicle maker’s shares recently probed all-time lows, but are making a turn to the upside this week. Stocktwits Sentiment and Message Volume turned positive ahead of this run and now suggests retail is looking for further upside.As the chart below shows, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://stocktwits.onelink.me/NjIT/wjj8jgcv">Stocktwits Sentiment</a> hit a fresh low in late June before reversing sharply to the upside to start July. Now, both metrics are approaching their YTD highs following the announcement that Lucid’s premium Grand Touring Air drove 1,205 km on a single charge, surpassing the previous world record by 160km. Prices of used cars in the United States are rising, according to a key gauge, another trend likely related to President Donald Trump's trade tariffs and their impact on businesses.The Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index rose 1.6% in June from May on a seasonally adjusted basis and surged 6.3% from a year earlier, the largest year-over-year increase in nearly three years, according to a Reuters report.The index represents the prices of used cars sold at wholesale auctions and has&nbsp;become recognized as an indicator of future inflation trends. The gauge proved predictive ahead of the inflation surge following the COVID-19 pandemic.At 208.5, it has been trending upward for a year and is now at its highest since October 2023."Wholesale appreciation trends have been more volatile over Q2 as tariffs really impacted new sales and supply, which impacted the used marketplace as well," said Jeremy Robb, senior director of economic and industry insights at Cox Automotive, which provides the index.Trump's tariffs, including additional duties on foreign-made cars and certain auto parts, disrupted the automobile market. WeRide Partners With Renault To Provide Autonomous Shuttle At The French Open, But Retail’s Not Excited

Shares of WeRide Inc. (WRD) soared 22% on Wednesday noon after the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.weride.ai/news-releases/news-release-details/weride-announces-plan-expand-commercial-robotaxi-services-15">reported</a> increasing revenue and a narrowing loss for the first quarter, together with a $100 million share repurchase program.The company’s total revenue in the period was RMB72.4 million ($10.03 million), compared to RMB71.2 million in the same period of 2024.The increase in revenue was owing to an increase in the sales of robotaxis and robosweepers in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, which was partially offset by a decrease in the sales of robobuses and a decrease in service revenue, the company said. WeRide Narrows Losses In Q1, Announces $100M Share Repurchase Program: Retail’s Thrilled

Shares of Pony AI (PONY) soared 11% in premarket trading on Tuesday after it entered a partnership with ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER).As part of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investor.uber.com/news-events/news/press-release-details/2025/PONY-AI-Inc--and-Uber-Announce-Strategic-Partnership-to-Advance-Autonomous-Mobility/default.aspx">partnership</a>, Pony AI’s robotaxis will be deployed on the Uber platform, starting with a market in the Middle East later this year.During the initial pilot phase, the vehicles will not operate wholly autonomously but will have a safety operator onboard. However, this will later progress to fully autonomous operations.Uber said deployments will be scaled to additional international markets in the future.The company explained that when a rider requests a qualifying ride on the Uber app, they may be given the option to fulfill their trip by a Pony.ai autonomous vehicle.Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that Uber is “uniquely positioned” to help accelerate the commercialization of autonomous driving technology as its services span mobility, delivery, and freight.Meanwhile, Pony AI CEO James Peng said partnering with Uber accelerates its shared mission to make autonomous mobility a real, everyday experience for more consumers worldwide.Last month, Pony AI unveiled its seventh-generation autonomous driving system at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
