Why hasn't the Korean Legislature approved it?”The announcement comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is set to issue a decision on the legality of Trump’s tariffs.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Trade Discussions</h2>In Oct. 2025, the U.S. and South Korea reached a trade agreement wherein the Asian country committed to a $350 billion investment in the U.S., including $200 billion in phased cash contributions. Funds were agreed to be deployed by 2029. In exchange, Trump agreed to reduce tariffs on South Korea, matching terms with Japan.However, the deal terms have not yet been finalized from South Korea. “Our Trade Deals are very important to America. In each of these Deals, we have acted swiftly to reduce our TARIFFS in line with the Transaction agreed to. South Korea Says ‘Substantial Progress’ Made In US Tariff Talks Ahead Of APEC Summit

South Korea’s Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo said Friday he had pressed U.S. officials for progress in talks and called for a swift resolution of visa problems affecting Korean workers.&nbsp;His comments came after more than 300 South Korean employees were detained earlier this month at a Hyundai Motor battery plant under construction in Georgia.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/south-koreans-return-home-after-hyundai-plant-raid-shackled-workers-greeted-with-tears/chw8K68RdwN">The workers were later released</a> and returned home.Yeo said both sides acknowledge the gravity of the matter but refused to disclose details of the talks, describing it as a sensitive issue. “These are matters that go directly to the national interest,” he told reporters at Incheon, according to a Bloomberg&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-19/us-korea-talks-remain-unresolved-over-auto-tariff-visa-issues">report</a>.&nbsp;The talks also cover auto tariffs and the $350 billion investment package pledged under the trade deal signed in July.
