Novo Nordisk shares&nbsp;climbed 0.6% in&nbsp;early premarket trading on Wednesday after the world’s most valuable drugmaker announced plans to cut 9,000 jobs and forecast billions in annual savings, even as it lowered its profit outlook for the third time this year.The Danish firm behind blockbuster obesity drug Wegovy and diabetes treatment Ozempic said it would cut 9,000 positions, or about 11.5% of its 78,400-strong global workforce, as part of a company-wide transformation. About 5,000 roles will be eliminated in Denmark.The restructuring is expected to save 8 billion Danish crowns ($1.26 billion) annually by 2026 and will focus resources on diabetes and obesity, Novo’s key growth areas.&nbsp;“Our markets are evolving, particularly in obesity, as it has become more competitive and consumer-driven. Why Is Novo Nordisk’s Stock Rising Premarket Today?

The Danish drugmaker said an overhaul will save 8 billion crowns annually by 2026, but one-off restructuring costs will drag 2025 operating profit growth down to 4–10% from as much as 27% previously projected.

Shares of Xilio Therapeutics ended nearly 8% higher on Tuesday after the company reported positive early trial results for its cancer drug XTX301, began dosing patients in Phase 2, and secured a $17.5 million milestone payment from Gilead Sciences.Xilio said Phase 1 data for XTX301, a tumor-activated IL-12 therapy, showed anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors, including two partial responses, while most side effects were mild or moderate.&nbsp;The treatment also sustained interferon gamma signaling across cycles, supporting the company’s approach of reprogramming “cold” tumors into inflamed “hot” ones.Based on the findings, Xilio selected a recommended Phase 2 dose and schedule and has begun treating patients in the Phase 2 portion of its ongoing Phase 1/2 trial in the U.S, which will enroll about 40 participants.&nbsp;Enrollment in Phase 1A has been completed, and Phase 1B expansion is still underway.The milestone payment from Gilead, tied to the start of Phase 2, extends Xilio’s cash runway into the first quarter of 2027.
