Bitcoin is the world's first decentralized cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. It enables peer-to-peer electronic cash transactions without intermediaries like banks or governments, operating on a blockchain secured by Proof of Work mining and the SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm.   With a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins and programmatic halvings every four years that reduce miner rewards, Bitcoin is designed as a deflationary digital asset often called "digital gold." Its value stems from solving the double-spending problem without trusted intermediaries, creating the first truly scarce digital asset with censorship resistance and permissionless access that no government, corporation, or individual can control.  Bitcoin operates as a decentralized peer-to-peer network where transactions are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, distributed across thousands of computers globally. Transactions are grouped into blocks added approximately every 10 minutes through mining, where specialized computers compete to solve complex mathematical puzzles.   Bitcoin has achieved mainstream adoption through multiple vectors. The January 2024 SEC approval of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs opened Bitcoin investment to traditional finance participants, and corporations like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) are using Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset to protect against currency debasement, offering MSTR holders amplified exposure to Bitcoin.   The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

Bitcoin is experiencing a notable price decline, with the community largely attributing the drop to institutional selling and perceived market manipulation. This downturn is amplified by ongoing political uncertainties, including discussions around tariffs and potential government shutdowns. Sentiment is sharply divided, with some actively buying the dip while others express strong bearish outlooks and advocate for a shift to traditional safe-haven assets like gold and silver.

Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. In other words, it is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and deploy smart contracts and applications without central authority control. Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as digital currency, Ethereum operates as a programmable global computer where developers can create any type of decentralized service.   The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Ethereum is currently experiencing significant selling pressure and perceived manipulation, particularly during weekend trading, leading to widespread community frustration and calls of it being "trash." However, many are actively accumulating, viewing current dips as prime buying opportunities due to persistent institutional staking and anticipation of a forthcoming clarity act to provide regulatory certainty.

Hedera is a decentralized public network where developers can build secure, fair applications with near real-time consensus. The platform is owned and governed by a council of global innovators including Avery Dennison, Boeing, Deutsche Telekom, DLA Piper, FIS (WorldPay), Google, IBM, LG Electronics, Magalu, Nomura, Swirlds, Tata Communications, University College London (UCL), Wipro, and Zain Group.   The Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) acts as a trust layer for any application or permissioned network and allows for the creation of an immutable and verifiable log of messages. Application messages are submitted to the Hedera network for consensus, given a trusted timestamp, and fairly ordered. Use HCS to track assets across a supply chain, create auditable logs of events in an advertising platform, or even use it as a decentralized ordering service.

Hedera (HBAR) is trending as the community debates its future, balancing significant institutional adoption and partnerships, such as its sponsorship of USA House at Davos, against persistent price underperformance. Enthusiasts see a "sleeping giant" accumulating at current levels for long-term growth and utility-driven appreciation, while skeptics express frustration over perceived dilution and stagnant value, intensifying calls for regulatory clarity to catalyze movement.

Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency based on the popular "Doge" Internet meme and features a Shiba Inu on its logo. Dogecoin is a Litecoin fork. Introduced as a "joke currency" on 6 December 2013, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community and reached a capitalization of US$60 million in January 2014. Compared with other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin had a fast initial coin production schedule: 100 billion coins were in circulation by mid-2015, with an additional 5.256 billion coins every year thereafter. As of 30 June 2015, the 100 billionth Dogecoin had been mined.   Dogecoin was created by Billy Markus from Portland, Oregon and  Jackson Palmer from Sydney, Australia. Both wanted to create a fun cryptocurrency that will appeal beyond the core Bitcoin audience. Dogecoin is primarily used as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter where users tip each other for creating or sharing good content. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional.  To purchase Dogecoin, it involves downloading a crypto wallet, setting up a crypto exchange account and then trading away for your desired crypto currency. It distinguishes itself by scaling globally without the use of complex sharding or multiple layers, instead maintaining a single, unified ledger to avoid liquidity fragmentation. This architecture allows it to process thousands of transactions per second with sub-second finality, often at a cost of less than a penny per transaction.  The network operates on a unique hybrid model that combines Proof of Stake with an innovation called Proof of History, which functions as a decentralized clock to timestamp transactions. This system reduces the need for constant node communication, allowing the Sealevel engine to run non-conflicting smart contracts in parallel across multiple CPU cores. Further efficiency is gained through the Gulf Stream protocol, which reduces confirmation times by forwarding transactions to validators before the current block is finished.  Founded in 2017 by Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana is now supported by the Switzerland-based Solana Foundation and significant institutional investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital. The platform’s native token, SOL, serves as the primary currency for paying transaction fees, participating in network governance, and securing the system through staking.   Solana has also seen significant institutional adoption ranging from spot Solana ETFs to major partnerships including Visa's 2025 launch of USDC settlement on the network and the tokenization of public equity by firms like Galaxy Digital.

Solana Outperforms Bitcoin As ETF Inflows Gain Momentum After Crossing $1 Billion Mark

VanEck Launches Solana Spot ETF On Nasdaq, Waives Fees For First $1 Billion AUM – STKE To Manage Staking

The ETF’s debut did not manage to lift Solana’s price amid broader weakness in the cryptocurrency market.

Grayscale Investments announced on Thursday that it has filed paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to go public. While the date isn’t set yet, the company said the initial public offering (IPO) would be of its Class A common stock on the New York Stock&nbsp;Exchange&nbsp;under the ticker ‘GRAY’.Details like the number of shares and the price range were also not disclosed. Grayscale said the IPO’s debut would depend on market conditions,&nbsp;so there’s no guarantee on the timeline or what the final terms might look like.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Revenue Drop Ahead Of IPO</h2>Thursday’s announcement comes after the company had already confidentially filed for an IPO back in July. Grayscale’s filing with the SEC reveals that the crypto asset manager experienced a decline in revenue over the past year. It has a net income of $203.3 million on revenue of $318.7 million for the nine months ended September 30, which is lower than the $223.8 million net income on revenue of $397.9 million in the previous year.Markets are expecting IPO activity to ramp up heading into the last months of the year after the most extended U.S. government shutdown ended on Wednesday. The shutdown has bottlenecked applications at the SEC, with the agency’s review functions hitting a pause.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Pioneer in Digital Asset ETFs</h2>The digital asset-focused investment platform, which has around $35 billion in assets under management (AUM), is touted for being the first company to launch Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETF). The approval of those ETFs paved the way for others to make digital asset investment accessible to traders in traditional markets.&nbsp;Grayscale’s Bitcoin (BTC) Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GBTC">GBTC</a>) edged 0.25% higher at market open, with retail sentiment on Stocktwits trending in ‘bullish’ territory. Meanwhile, the Grayscale Ethereum (ETH) Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETHE">ETHE</a>) dipped 0.4%, with retail sentiment falling to ‘neutral’ from the ‘bullish’ zone over the past day. The token also dropped 15% from the early October highs around $220.A fall below $180 could temporarily reduce Solana's market capitalization to below $100 billion.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">ETF Launches Draw Record Inflows</h2>The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) officially launched on the NYSE Arca on Tuesday, becoming the first U.S. exchange-traded product with full exposure to SOL. The fund stakes 100% of its holdings through a dedicated validator and reinvests rewards, offering direct yield exposure. BSOL recorded $69.5 million in first-day inflows and grew to $343.78 million in assets within three days, making it one of the most successful crypto ETF debuts on record.A day later, Grayscale’s Solana Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GSOL">GSOL</a>) began trading on NYSE Arca, drawing $1.4 million in first-day inflows. Meanwhile, combined open interest for XRP and SOL futures on CME hit a record $3 billion, signaling growing institutional participation. Institutional entities now hold 20.13 million SOL, worth more than $4.6 billion, concentrated among just 20 corporate holders.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Western Union Bet Offsets Jump Crypto Exit</h2>Western Union announced plans to utilize Solana to power its upcoming USD Payment Token (USDPT), a 1:1 USD-pegged stablecoin set to launch in 2026, following a competitive evaluation of multiple blockchains. The move positions Solana as the backbone of Western Union’s network of 150 million customers in over 200 countries—a major step toward mainstream payments integration.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Jump Crypto Jumps Ship</h2>Following these announcements, which happened within a span of 48 hours, Jump Crypto unstaked and&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://twitter.com/lookonchain/status/1983934415505125667">transferred</a> 1.1 million SOL, worth $205 million, to Galaxy Digital (GLXY) on Thursday.. In exchange, it received 2,455 BTC, or about $265 million. The swap effectively rotated Jump’s holdings out of Solana and into Bitcoin (BTC), underscoring thinning institutional conviction despite recent milestones.According to on-chain data, Jump Crypto's holdings dropped 29.65% in value over 30 days despite holding 73% of their treasury in SOL, according to&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.stakingrewards.com/provider/jump-crypto">data</a> from StakingRewards. Rather than doubling down or waiting it out, they cut their exposure and swapped into a safer asset. SOL Got Everything It Wanted This Week – Why Is It Still Dumping?

Solana’s price fell 1.4% over the week despite surging retail optimism and major institutional developments.

Grayscale Investments on Monday announced the first crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that enable staking.The company said its Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETHE">ETHE</a>) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH">ETH</a>) are the first U.S.-listed spot crypto ETPs to enable staking. ETHE, launched in July last year, is the second-largest spot Ethereum ETF in the US, behind BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA).&nbsp;The company also confirmed that the Grayscale Solana Trust (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GSOL">GSOL</a>) has activated staking. Pending regulatory approval for GSOL’s uplisting as an exchange-traded product, it is expected to become among the first spot Solana ETPs with staking functionality, Grayscale said.By staking a portion of its Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) holdings, Grayscale provides exposure to ETH and SOL while generating network rewards. The firm will stake passively through institutional custodians and validator partners, supporting protocol security and long-term network health.Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg said the firm’s latest staking rollout for Ethereum and Solana funds shows its focus on staying ahead of the market. Grayscale said it plans to extend staking to additional products as the digital asset ecosystem evolves.While REX-Osprey offers a SOL ETF with native staking under the ‘40 Act, Grayscale’s Ethereum ETFs are the first U.S. spot crypto ETFs under the more common ‘33 Act to add staking, potentially setting a new precedent for Solana once GSOL converts.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a> was trading at around $4,500 at the time of writing, up 0.5% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data.
