Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Pony AI Stock Flips Between Gains And Losses After Key Shenzhen Permit: Retail Expects Shares ‘Will Run Up In The Future’

However, sales in China, including Hong Kong and Macau, slumped 1% to 158,913 units as buyers held back in anticipation of discounts at local motor shows held during the National Day holiday, among other factors.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Production Details</h2>Production of Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles increased 11.1% globally to 918,146 units in September, marking four consecutive months of growth. While production within Japan increased 8.5% to 301,626 units, production outside of Japan increased 12.4% &nbsp;to 616,520 units.Production in the U.S. soared 28.5% to 123,649 units, while production across North America, including Canada and Mexico, rose 19.8%. This was aided by the recovery from last year’s production stoppage due to recalls and by the strong performance of hybrid vehicles, the company said.The company also increased its electrified vehicle sales last month, and recorded an overall 2.3% growth to 412,577 units. Battery-electric vehicle sales increased 71% to 19,159 units, but hybrid-electric vehicles continue to dominate the company’s overall electrified sales.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Stocktwits Lyft’s (LYFT) expanded stock repurchase plan has prompted Engine Capital to drop its activist campaign and withdraw its board nominees on Friday.Lyft’s stock rocketed as much as 19% at the opening bell to a five-month high, tracking broader market gains following Trump’s <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/trump-unveils-us-uk-trade-deal-with-boost-for-steel-agriculture-boeing/chifoL4RbkK">U.K. trade agreement</a> and ahead of <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/trump-says-80-seems-right-ahead-of-china-talks-leaves-final-call-to-treasury-secretary/chiWAGqRblB">U.S.-China trade talks</a> scheduled over the weekend.During its first-quarter (Q1) earnings on Thursday, the ride-hailing company announced that it has increased its stock buyback program to $750 million, up from $500 million. Lyft plans to deploy $500 million over the next 12 months and $200 million within three months."We appreciate the Board's willingness to engage with us about steps that can be taken to enhance value for all of Lyft's shareholders,” it said in its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).The withdrawal comes a little over a week after Engine Capital pushed the company to initiate a $750 million accelerated share repurchase program and revise its governance structure.&nbsp;The investment firm said this includes dismantling the dual-class share system that grants disproportionate voting power to the co-founder and de-staggering the board.It had also nominated two candidates&nbsp;to the board, seeking to replace current directors Sean Aggarwal and Betsey Stevenson.&nbsp;Engine Capital cited a lack of financial sophistication and public company expertise, pointing out that seven of the ten current Lyft directors have not served on any other public company board.“Following a series of productive conversations, the Board has taken a meaningful first step by committing to substantial share repurchases in the coming quarters,” Engine Capital said, citing the move as its reason for withdrawing and giving the company time to follow through on its new commitments.On Thursday, the company reported earnings of $0.24 per share, beating Wall Street’s estimate of $0.19, according to Koyfin. However, its revenue of $1.45 billion missed the forecast of $1.47 billion.&nbsp;Goldman Sachs upgraded Lyft’s stock to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral, with a price target of $20 following the company’s first-quarter (Q1) earnings report. Lyft Stock Soars To Five-Month High As Engine Capital Ends Activist Campaign After $750M Buyback Pledge

Engine Capital said it is ending its campaign to give Lyft time to deliver on its new commitments following recent board discussions.
