The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. Our company has been proud to play a key role in that leadership, delivering more than 40% of the natural gas feedstock to U.S. LNG facilities,” he added.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Q4 Results And Outlook</h2>Kinder Morgan said its adjusted net income, excluding certain items, primarily from a gain on an asset sale during the fourth quarter of 2025, was $866 million or $0.39, 22% higher than the fourth quarter of 2024. Analysts on average had expected a profit of $0.37 per share, according to data from fiscal.ai.The company said its backlog at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025 was $10 billion.&nbsp;“In the markets we serve, we expect robust growth in power demand in the coming years, driven both by population growth and data center siting,” the company said in a statement.&nbsp;“Led by record-setting performance in our Natural Gas Pipelines business segment, the company delivered its highest ever fourth quarter and full-year net income attributable to KMI and Adjusted EBITDA,” said Kim Dang, Chief Executive Officer at Kinder Morgan.&nbsp;KMI said it has budgeted its 2026 net income attributable to the company of $3.1 billion, flat compared to the previous year. Barrick Gold (GOLD) stock was up nearly 1% in pre-market trade after the company followed through on its threat to halt gold operations in Mali if the local government&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/barrick-gold-stock-falls-on-mali-gold-seizure-amid-revenue-dispute/chGNB7GRNh">acted on</a> its interim order to seize gold stockpiles at the Loulo-Gounkoto mine operated by the company.&nbsp;The move comes eight days after the firm&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/barrick-gold-stock-slides-one-week-ultimatum-to-mali-government/chGd2rIRm9">warned</a> it would be forced to take such action if the authorities in the West African nation continued to restrict exports and disrupt operations.“Barrick has regrettably initiated the temporary suspension of operations while it continues to work towards a resolution,” the company said in its update.Barrick, one the largest gold producers in the world, reiterated that it remains committed to constructive engagement with the Malian government to find an “amicable solution.”Barrick and Mali’s government have been locked in a standoff over revenue distribution from the Loulo-Gounkoto mine, an asset that’s key for both the company and the treasury.&nbsp;Since November, the state has blocked Barrick from shipping the precious metal out of the country.
