Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. (SRPT) edged up nearly 1.5% on Monday after the company said that screening and enrollment are underway in a cohort of its study, aimed at developing an enhanced safety protocol for its gene therapy, Elevidys, in non-ambulant individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.</p><p>Data from the cohort is aimed at determining whether administering sirolimus prior to and after Elevidys infusion can help reduce risks of acute liver injury and acute liver failure associated with Elevidys in DMD patients who cannot walk.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Gene Therapy Study Details</h2><p>Sarepta is <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investorrelations.sarepta.com/news-releases/news-release-details/sarepta-announces-screening-and-enrollment-are-underway-endeavor">looking</a> to enroll about 25 Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients who are non-ambulatory in the cohort.</p><p>Patients enrolled in the cohort will be administered peri-infusion sirolimus 14 days before Elevidys administration and will continue to receive it for 12 weeks after Elevidys, the company said.</p><p>Elevidys is the only approved gene therapy for Duchenne, a severe, progressive genetic muscle-wasting disease, primarily affecting young boys.</p><p>Elevidys came under scrutiny last year over concerns of acute liver failure and associated patient deaths. The offer price represents a premium of about 31% from the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.</p><p>It is possible that the talks might not culminate in a deal, the report added.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Competing Bids</h2><p>Fertitta’s bid reportedly tops a rival offer from investor Carl Icahn’s firm for Caesars. Icahn Enterprises (IEP) had made an all-cash offer of about $33 per share for Caesars, the report said, while adding that Icahn’s offer has not been officially rejected by Caesars.</p><p>Late last month, the Financial Times <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/caesars-entertainment-stock-closes-up-19-percent-on-takeover-buzz/cZTGp5zRIRX">reported</a> that Caesars is also considering a possible management-led buyout. Shares of the company closed up 19% on the day.</p><p>Eldorado Resorts completed its acquisition of Caesars Entertainment Corporation in 2020 for approximately $17.3 billion, creating the largest U.S. casino operator. CZR Stock Climbs On Report Of Buyout Talks With Billionaire Tilman Fertitta

The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that Fertitta's company Fertitta Entertainment has been discussing paying around $34 a share for Caesars.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Papa John’s is now reviewing the bid but there is no guarantee that the bid will result in an agreement, the report said.</li><li>For Irth, it is its second attempt at acquiring Papa Johns after it made an attempt last year alongside private-equity firm Apollo Global Management, sources told the Journal.&nbsp;</li><li>For fiscal year 2025, Papa John’s reported adjusted and diluted earnings per common share of $1.43, down from $2.34 in the prior year as it battles rising competition.</li></ul><p>Shares of Papa John's (PZZA) rose over 18% on Wednesday following a report that the company has received a take-over bid valuing the business at about $1.5 billion.</p><p>The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that the Qatari-backed investment fund Irth Capital Management has submitted a bid to take the pizza chain private.</p><p>As per the <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.wsj.com/business/deals/papa-johns-draws-fresh-takeover-interest-85f6490a">report</a>, Irth offered to pay $47 per share. This represents a 44% premium from the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.</p><p>Papa John’s is now reviewing the bid but there is no guarantee that the bid will result in an agreement, the report said, while also highlighting the possibility of another suitor emerging.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Second Attempt</h2><p>For Irth, it is its second attempt at acquiring Papa Johns after it made a bid last year alongside private-equity firm Apollo Global Management, sources told the Journal.</p><p>Irth is an existing shareholder in Papa Johns and has increased its effective stake to about 10%, the report added. A deal for Papa Johns would be one of Irth’s first major moves, the report noted.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Papa John’s FY25</h2><p>For fiscal year 2025, Papa John’s reported total revenue of $2.1 billion, flat compared to the prior year, and adjusted diluted earnings per common share of $1.43, down from $2.34 in the prior year as it battles rising competition.</p><p>In February, the company committed to sharpening its marketing message in light of the competitive dynamics in its business.
