Quantum Resistant Ledger is a cryptocurrency based on the Python programming language, aimed at combating future attacks by quantum computers. This cryptocurrency is the brainchild of Peter Waterland who realised that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other such cryptocurrencies have no protection against future technology. It claims to be a “future-proof” cryptocurrency which enables transactions and decentralized communication while providing protection against classical as well as quantum computer attacks.  The Quantum Resistant Ledger company was founded by Peter Waterland, who found that Bitcoin, as well as Ethereum signatures are susceptible to attacks by powerful quantum computers. His research on quantum computers and signature programs let to the development of this new cryptocurrency, designed to be resistant to the present classical attacks as well as any future quantum computer attacks. Quantum Resistant Ledger is the first ever cryptocurrency and the only one in existence as of August 2018, to consider the threat that the future technology of quantum computing poses to cryptocurrencies and their working. It uses a technology specifically designed for post-quantum security, called XMSS, which makes it secure against powerful quantum computers even while using a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. Security against cyber-attacks is a very serious concern in this digital age, especially when you have digital assets whose loss is likely to lead you to bankruptcy.  QRL is the first blockchain technology that provides durability and stability through resistance to quantum computer attacks. The encryption methods used by modern blockchains can become vulnerable to quantum computers over the next ten years. QRL tries to create a blockchain with long-term stability. By using blockchain technology, the QRL platform creates a “ledger” that generates hashes in such a way that it is virtually impenetrable to any type of computer attack.

Against this backdrop, headlines of megacap hyperscalers pouring billions into India have been steadily trickling in.<h2 class="st-heading-2">India Beckons</h2>E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN), which has a thriving cloud computing business, became the latest to announce a multi-year, multibillion-dollar commitment in India to advance AI innovation. The Amazon news comes close on the heels of Microsoft’s announcement regarding $17.5 billion investment in the country over four years ending 2029.While Amazon stated that the $35 billion will be spent on expanding all of its businesses and on three strategic pillars, namely AI-driven digitization, export growth and job creation, Microsoft’s largesse was set to be splurged primarily on cloud and AI infrastructure.The software giant said this marked its largest investment in Asia and that it hoped to have the largest hyperscale presence in Indian when the new data center goes live in mid-2026.Not long ago, Alphabet, Inc.’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) Google made a $15 billion push in India, meant to build an AI hub in the port city of Visakhapatnam situated in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. Delving into the investment, CEO Sundar Pichai said, “This hub combines gigawatt-scale compute capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure.” Google said the AI hub with house a purpose-built data center campus capable of gigawatt-scale compute capacity.Meta is also rumored to be considering building datacenter infrastructure in the subcontinent. An Economic Times report&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/meta-to-partner-with-sify-for-500-mw-visakhapatnam-data-centre/articleshow/125475106.cms?from=mdr">stated</a> in late November that the Mark Zuckerberg-led company is looking to partner with India’s Sify Technologies to build a 500-megawatt data center in Visakhapatnam. Sify will reportedly spend $1.7 billion on the project and lease it to Meta. A Bloomberg report in August stated that the company was&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-01/openai-plans-india-data-center-in-major-stargate-expansion">scouting&nbsp;</a>for partners to set up data centers with at least 1 gigawatt of capacity.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Domestic Players Join The Party</h2>India’s top business groups, as well as newer data center operators, are also deepening their commitments. These include:-Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries’&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.financialexpress.com/life/technology-reliance-to-build-worlds-largest-ai-powered-data-center-in-jamnagar-with-30-billion-investment-3724737/">planned</a> data center in Jamnagar to be built for $20 billion to $30 billion; Once operational, it is expected to exceed the capacity of the world’s largest data center (600-MW capacity), operated by Microsoft in Virginia-Indian IT services giant TCS recently announced a strategic partnership with private-equity firm TPG for its AI data center business, which it calls HyperVault. The project involves a cost of $2 billion, with TPG contributing roughly 50% of the investment.-Adani Group’s proposed 48 MW AI green data center in Telangana&nbsp;The Adani Group will also reportedly invest $5 billion in Google’s AI data center project.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Pull Behind India’s Data Center Surge</h2>Consulting firm McKinsey estimates that datacenters equipped to handle AI processing loads would require $5.2 trillion in Capital expenditure (Capex) by 2030, and that for traditional IT applications would need another $1.5 trillion, taking the total to $7 trillion in capital outlays by 2030.&nbsp;India currently has 1.5 GW of data center capacity, which is expected to increase to 10 GW by 2030, according to TCS. He also said he spoke with both Modi and Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and threatened to withdraw from trade deals with their respective nations, which helped avert a “nuclear war.”While Trump and Modi have shared a cordial relationship in the past, the U.S. President’s assertions about the American role in ending the conflict between India and its neighbor have strained it. Last week, a report by the Indian publication Mint stated that India and the U.S. are on the cusp of finalizing a long-overdue trade agreement that could significantly lower U.S. tariffs on Indian goods from around 50% to 15%-16%. This is contingent on India’s commitment to scaling back its purchases of Russian oil.The report stated that as part of the proposed deal, India may permit higher imports of non-genetically modified U.S. corn and soymeal. This has been another sticking point in the ongoing negotiations, as India guarded the price-sensitive agricultural and dairy markets.The agreement could also include a framework for periodic review of tariffs and market access.While no deal has been formally announced, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Tech giant Apple, Inc. (APPL) is making considerable inroads in India, a country where it has expanded its manufacturing presence as well, as the U.S.-China standoff continues to be a headwind.&nbsp;A Bloomberg <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-05/apple-s-india-sales-hit-record-9-billion-after-big-retail-push">report,</a> citing people familiar with the matter, stated that Apple’s sales in India reached $9 billion in the fiscal year that ended in March 2025. This marked a $1 billion (12.5%) increase from the previous fiscal year. In Apple’s fiscal year, which ended in September 2024, its overall revenue increased 2%, with iPhone sales a tad better at 3%.Cupertino’s flagship product, the iPhone, drove the bulk of the sales in India, with MacBook laptops also witnessing a demand surge.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL">Apple stock</a> is among the worst-performing mega-cap stocks this year, having pulled back about 4% year-to-date (YTD). After the U.S. President Donald Trump slapped hefty tariffs on exports from China, Apple has shifted most of its U.S.-bound iPhone assembly to India.&nbsp;Acknowledging the untapped market opportunity in India, which was previously overlooked due to the country's price-sensitive consumer base, Apple has opened two additional retail outlets in the country this week.&nbsp;The new outlets are located in Hebbal, Bangalore, and Koregaon Park in Pune, in addition to the existing ones in Delhi and Mumbai, which opened in 2023.Cook posted about the new stories on his X account. “Say hello to Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune! U.S. President Donald Trump's foreign and trade policies are redrawing the dynamics among countries that find themselves on the losing side of his agenda.A new report by Bloomberg, published on Thursday, stated that China reached out to India in March, and India began responding constructively in June as India's trade negotiations with the U.S.&nbsp;became contentious.&nbsp;Chinese President Xi Jinping wrote a letter to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, expressing concerns about any U.S. deals that would harm China’s interests and suggesting engagement to improve India-China ties, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-08-28/secret-xi-letter-revived-india-ties-after-trump-tariff-barrage">reported</a>, citing an unnamed Indian official.Xi’s letter named a provincial official who would steer Beijing’s efforts. The message was also passed on to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the time.By August, Indo-Chinese ties appeared to have moved past the souring triggered by&nbsp;a major border skirmish in 2020, with Modi scheduled to visit China for the first time in seven years this weekend.The U.S. has been high-handed with China, setting insurmountable import duties on the country just after Trump first announced the tariff rates for all countries in April.After multiple revisions and rollovers, the current rates are lower, with the U.S. and China engaged in talks for a permanent agreement, giving global markets some relief.India's negotiations with its long-time friendly partner soured rather abruptly when Trump last month accused India of supporting Russia and its war in Ukraine by buying large quantities of Russian oil. The U.S. imposed a steep 50% tariff rate on Indian imports in retaliation.In July, Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing,&nbsp;marking the first such visit in five years. China assured India of supplies of fertilizer and rare earths during the meeting, and in the coming weeks, a series of steps were taken to improve ties.According to Bloomberg, direct flights between India and China&nbsp;are expected to resume next month.
