Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Granted, it was not a steady, steep ascent, but the trend was broadly to the upside, interspersed with minor pullbacks.&nbsp;AI stalwart Nvidia is up a relatively less glamorous 29% this year, but its chip peers Micron, Broadcom, Intel, and AMD have had a stronger run. So did the storage solutions companies such as Western Digital, its spin-off company Sandisk, and Seagate Technology, as well as chip-equipment makers Lam Research and KLA Corp.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Breakout Story Or Shady Play?</h2>But an obscure chipmaker in the eastern part of the world has beaten all these big giants fair and square in terms of stock performance — a David in the world of AI Goliaths.However, the company’s opacity continues to deepen by the day. Welcome to the world of RRP Semiconductor. The Thane, India-based company has built an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly &amp; Test (OSAT) facility in Maharashtra for chip packaging, fabrication, and testing.&nbsp;The company's financial soundness, however, is in question. RRP Semi reported negative revenue of Rs. 682.14 lakhs ($68.2 million) for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2025, according to its filings with the stock exchange. Its adjusted loss swung wildly from Rs. 0.21 a year ago to Rs. 5.25.Incorporated as a trading investment firm in 1980, the company transitioned into the electronics and semiconductor industry, renaming itself RRP Semiconductor in May 2025, according to information from the stock market analytics firm Trendlyne.&nbsp;RRP Semi landed in trouble with regulators after social media speculation that Indian cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar had invested in the company sent its shares soaring. The sports icon had attended the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai OSAT plant in late March 2024. In a filing with the BSE in mid-October, the company clarified that Tendulkar has not subscribed to its shares and that the company has not received land from the government of Maharashtra. A limit-up session refers to a scenario when a stock or index reaches the upper circuit limit, or the pre-defined maximum allowable price increase for the day. According to a Bloomberg chart, RRP Semi has seen a surge in retail participation in the second half of the year.&nbsp;RRP Semi is 98% owned by Rajendra Chodankar, the founder of RRP Group, the parent company, and some of his associates.Traders in the stock had thrown caution to the wind and plunged long into the stock despite the exchanges and the company flagging potential issues. The Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the stock market regulator in India, has begun looking into whether any wrongdoing is involved in RRP Semi’s stock surge, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The Amazon news comes close on the heels of Microsoft’s announcement regarding $17.5 billion investment in the country over four years ending 2029.While Amazon stated that the $35 billion will be spent on expanding all of its businesses and on three strategic pillars, namely AI-driven digitization, export growth and job creation, Microsoft’s largesse was set to be splurged primarily on cloud and AI infrastructure.The software giant said this marked its largest investment in Asia and that it hoped to have the largest hyperscale presence in Indian when the new data center goes live in mid-2026.Not long ago, Alphabet, Inc.’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) Google made a $15 billion push in India, meant to build an AI hub in the port city of Visakhapatnam situated in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. Delving into the investment, CEO Sundar Pichai said, “This hub combines gigawatt-scale compute capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure.” Google said the AI hub with house a purpose-built data center campus capable of gigawatt-scale compute capacity.Meta is also rumored to be considering building datacenter infrastructure in the subcontinent. An Economic Times report&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/meta-to-partner-with-sify-for-500-mw-visakhapatnam-data-centre/articleshow/125475106.cms?from=mdr">stated</a> in late November that the Mark Zuckerberg-led company is looking to partner with India’s Sify Technologies to build a 500-megawatt data center in Visakhapatnam. Sify will reportedly spend $1.7 billion on the project and lease it to Meta. These include:-Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries’&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.financialexpress.com/life/technology-reliance-to-build-worlds-largest-ai-powered-data-center-in-jamnagar-with-30-billion-investment-3724737/">planned</a> data center in Jamnagar to be built for $20 billion to $30 billion; Once operational, it is expected to exceed the capacity of the world’s largest data center (600-MW capacity), operated by Microsoft in Virginia-Indian IT services giant TCS recently announced a strategic partnership with private-equity firm TPG for its AI data center business, which it calls HyperVault. The project involves a cost of $2 billion, with TPG contributing roughly 50% of the investment.-Adani Group’s proposed 48 MW AI green data center in Telangana&nbsp;The Adani Group will also reportedly invest $5 billion in Google’s AI data center project.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Pull Behind India’s Data Center Surge</h2>Consulting firm McKinsey estimates that datacenters equipped to handle AI processing loads would require $5.2 trillion in Capital expenditure (Capex) by 2030, and that for traditional IT applications would need another $1.5 trillion, taking the total to $7 trillion in capital outlays by 2030.&nbsp;India currently has 1.5 GW of data center capacity, which is expected to increase to 10 GW by 2030, according to TCS. He also said he spoke with both Modi and Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and threatened to withdraw from trade deals with their respective nations, which helped avert a “nuclear war.”While Trump and Modi have shared a cordial relationship in the past, the U.S. President’s assertions about the American role in ending the conflict between India and its neighbor have strained it. Last week, a report by the Indian publication Mint stated that India and the U.S. are on the cusp of finalizing a long-overdue trade agreement that could significantly lower U.S. tariffs on Indian goods from around 50% to 15%-16%. This is contingent on India’s commitment to scaling back its purchases of Russian oil.The report stated that as part of the proposed deal, India may permit higher imports of non-genetically modified U.S. corn and soymeal. This has been another sticking point in the ongoing negotiations, as India guarded the price-sensitive agricultural and dairy markets.The agreement could also include a framework for periodic review of tariffs and market access.While no deal has been formally announced, Indian External Affairs Minister S. He has asked for up to 100% EU tariffs on imports from India as well as China, in a move aimed at turning up the heat on Moscow to end the war in Ukraine.The two nations heavily purchase Russian oil, something Trump has criticized, saying that it indirectly funds the Ukraine war.Last month, the U.S. announced a 50% tariff rate on Indian exports, in part because of the country's trade with Russia. Trump Praises ‘Good Friend’ Modi Publicly, But Reportedly Pressures EU Privately To Clamp Down On India With 100% Tariffs

Tech giant Apple, Inc. (APPL) is making considerable inroads in India, a country where it has expanded its manufacturing presence as well, as the U.S.-China standoff continues to be a headwind.&nbsp;A Bloomberg <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-05/apple-s-india-sales-hit-record-9-billion-after-big-retail-push">report,</a> citing people familiar with the matter, stated that Apple’s sales in India reached $9 billion in the fiscal year that ended in March 2025. This marked a $1 billion (12.5%) increase from the previous fiscal year. In Apple’s fiscal year, which ended in September 2024, its overall revenue increased 2%, with iPhone sales a tad better at 3%.Cupertino’s flagship product, the iPhone, drove the bulk of the sales in India, with MacBook laptops also witnessing a demand surge.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL">Apple stock</a> is among the worst-performing mega-cap stocks this year, having pulled back about 4% year-to-date (YTD). After the U.S. President Donald Trump slapped hefty tariffs on exports from China, Apple has shifted most of its U.S.-bound iPhone assembly to India.&nbsp;Acknowledging the untapped market opportunity in India, which was previously overlooked due to the country's price-sensitive consumer base, Apple has opened two additional retail outlets in the country this week.&nbsp;The new outlets are located in Hebbal, Bangalore, and Koregaon Park in Pune, in addition to the existing ones in Delhi and Mumbai, which opened in 2023.Cook posted about the new stories on his X account. “Say hello to Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune!
