Cleartrip joins IRCTC for train bookings, targets single-digit market share
Online travel platform Cleartrip, a Flipkart company, on Monday announced its entry into the train ticket booking segment through a partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), aiming to capture a single-digit market share by the end of the current financial year. With this integration, users can book train tickets across India, including General and Tatkal quotas as per Ministry of Railways guidelines. The platform will also offer real-time seat availability, fare insights, PNR status tracking, berth preferences, and secure digital payments in a single interface going forward across multiple platforms seamlessly too. “‘With over 800 million reserved passengers travelling by train every year, the opportunity isn't just about scale, it's about delivering a differentiated experience,’” Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer, Air, Cleartrip, told PTI. He added that the company targets a mid-to-high single-digit share within the online travel segment for trains by year-end, followed by exponential growth in the coming years.
