As AI-fueled gains spark bubble warnings, investors are eyeing defensive ETFs in consumer staples, utilities and healthcare for safety. 

Philip Morris International Inc. (PM) said on Wednesday that its experts met with the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee on October 7 as it seeks to continue marketing versions of its IQOS heated tobacco products in the U.S. as modified risk tobacco products.The committee provides nonbinding recommendations to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP). The modified risk tobacco product designation granted by the FDA initially in 2020 allowed the company to advertise its perks, including that the IQOS system heats tobacco instead of burning it, significantly reducing the production of and users’ exposure to harmful chemicals.PMI has requested that it be allowed to continue marketing versions of IQOS as modified risk tobacco products.“We encourage the FDA to continue efforts to establish a timely scientific review process for smoke-free products—including for IQOS ILUMA, which has been pending FDA review for nearly two years and has globally shown even higher rates of legal-age adults fully switching from combustible cigarettes—that are a better choice for legal-age adults who would otherwise use traditional tobacco products, including combustible cigarettes,” PMI U.S. CEO Stacey Kennedy <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20251008608945/en/Philip-Morris-International-Urges-U.S.-Food-and-Drug-Administration-Advisory-Committee-to-Recommend-Continued-Marketing-of-IQOS-as-Modified-Risk-Product">said</a>.The company estimates that there are approximately 34 million IQOS consumers globally who have moved away from cigarettes or significantly reduced their consumption as of June 30. Philip Morris Seeks FDA Approval To Keep IQOS Modified Risk Designation For Later Versions Of Device

The modified risk tobacco product designation granted by the FDA initially in 2020 allowed the company to advertise IQOS’ perks. 

The Campbell’s Company (CPB) experienced multiple price target hikes from Wall Street on Thursday, with TD Cowen citing that the packaged food maker’s annual profit guidance was less negative than initially feared, due to an acceleration of cost savings and near-term tariff mitigation.TD Cowen raised its price target to $31 from $29 and maintained a ‘Hold’ rating, according to TheFly. The firm added that the company’s fourth-quarter results were all better than expected.Retail sentiment on <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CPB">Campbell’s</a> remained unchanged in the ‘bullish’ territory, with chatter at ‘extremely high’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits. Campbell’s Gains Wall Street Confidence With Multiple Price Target Hikes, Retail Chatter Surges

Kraft Heinz (KHC) is reportedly nearing a deal to break itself up, splitting its grocery and sauces businesses. Following the report, shares of Kraft Heinz traded over 2% higher by Friday afternoon.The Wall Street Journal <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.wsj.com/business/deals/kraft-heinz-break-up-deal-346ee8f5">reported</a> on Friday that a transaction could be announced as early as next week, citing people familiar with the matter. However, it also noted that the plans could change at the last minute.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/KHC">KHC stock</a> jumped from ‘bullish’ to ‘extremely bullish’ territory, while message volume stayed at ‘low’ levels.According to WSJ, the company is betting that the two separate units would be cumulatively worth more than its current value of around $33 billion. More details on the split could not be learnt, the newspaper said.In July, the Journal reported that Kraft Heinz was planning to spin off a portion of its grocery business into a new entity valued at about $20 billion on its own, leaving the company owning sauces and spreads. While the grocery business would hold many Kraft products, the other entity would house goods including Heinz’s namesake ketchup and Dijon mustard brand Grey Poupon, the newspaper said.Kraft Heinz is the result of the merger between Kraft and Heinz in 2015.
