The payments on Request are performed by simply sending an invoice through the blockchain; the counterparty can then detect the request and pay it with one click in a peer-to-peer manner. REQ is an ERC-20 token that can be spent to use the Request Network.  A portion of the REQ fee is burned at a rate that is determined by the current supply and the exchange rate with other currencies.  Request’s (REQ) circulating supply is at 999,912,165 REQ as of February 2021 and the maximum supply is 999,983,984 tokens.  How Is the Request Network Secured? REQ is an ERC-20 token based on the Ethereum platform. The requests made with REQ are stored on an immutable digital ledger. This ledger also serves as proof for all auditing purposes.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 166.67 points, or 0.34%, to 49,240.99.Major technology shares were trading in the red, including most of the “Magnificent Seven” names like Microsoft and Meta Platforms that were down 3% and 2%, respectively.&nbsp;Nvidia stock also slumped, with the artificial intelligence heavyweight dropping 4%. Meanwhile, software stocks like ServiceNow and Salesforce fell 7% each.&nbsp;Other than technology stocks, bitcoin also took a beating as it fell more than 4% and reached its lowest levels since November 2024. The drop is also weighed by significant outflows in bitcoin ETFs over the past two weeks, where investors took out billions.&nbsp;Spot gold jumped 6% lower at $4,939 an ounce by 4:42 PM ET. Gold futures for February deliveries was higher nearly 7% to $4,977.90 an ounce.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Stocks In Focus</h2>PayPal (PYPL): PayPal reported Q4 revenue of $8.68 billion, falling short of analyst expectations of $8.79 billion, according to Stocktwits data.&nbsp;Palantir (PLTR): Has reported its best annualized growth rate on record (70%) and a massive Q4 revenue beat of $1.41 billion.Amazon (AMZN): As it gears up to report earnings this week, news reports suggest that it may eliminate 2,200 more jobs as it continues to lean into operational efficiency.&nbsp;Tesla (TSLA): It has introduced a new all-wheel-drive Model Y variant in the U.S., priced at $41,990. But investors are also assessing the $1.25 trillion mega-merger between SpaceX and xAI.Novo Nordisk (NVO): The company on Tuesday said that it sees fiscal 2026 adjusted sales down 5% to 13% as it gears up to face pricing headwinds and a competitive market.&nbsp;U.S. equities were mixed in extended hours of trading on Tuesday. Higher interest rates increase the discount rate used in metrics like DCF, reducing the present value of future cash flows.As forecasts move, investors adjust what they’re prepared to pay for future growth, a process that can drag valuations and share prices lower.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Who Gets Impacted By Rate Revisions?</h2>Higher rates do not affect every corner of the market equally. Banks tend to get a lift because they can earn more on loans. But growth stocks often take a blow as their valuations tighten. Real estate and utilities, which depend heavily on borrowing, feel the pressure quickly. Consumer stocks can also slip as people rein in spending.However, elevated rates can also expose structural weaknesses in the financial system. In 2023, high interest rates played a role in the banking crisis that led to the failure of multiple U.S. lenders, including Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Do Markets Always Go Down During An Elevated Rate Cycle?</h2>During the most recent elevated interest rate cycle, the S&amp;P 500 still posted double-digit gains in 2023 and 2024 and is on track to repeat the feat in 2025. Yet over the past two years, the 10-year U.S. Treasury note yield has traded within a broad range of 3.6%- 5%.“Despite the highest interest rates in a decade, solid corporate earnings growth supports equity prices,” said Rob Haworth, senior investment strategy director with U.S. Bank Asset Management Group, in a note published in November.
