Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. Hyroad Energy said on Friday it has acquired 113 hydrogen fuel cell trucks, spare parts, software platforms, and IP assets from Nikola Corp’s bankruptcy auction.The company said this will help grow its fleet and accelerate its ability to deploy zero-emission, hydrogen-fueled trucks."This acquisition significantly advances Hyroad's mission to provide turnkey hydrogen trucking solutions that reduce the complexity and risk typically associated with adopting zero-emission technologies," said Dmitry Serov, CEO and Founder of Hyroad Energy.The firm said that the trucks will be deployed primarily in California, where it has been developing hydrogen refueling infrastructure to support its customers. In addition to deploying the purchased trucks, Hyroad also intends to offer support for the Nikola trucks that are already in customers' hands for the growth of the hydrogen-fueled truck market in the United States.&nbsp;"These trucks and the corresponding equipment and systems represent immediate capacity to put proven hydrogen fuel cell technology on the road to meet demand for zero-emission trucks,” Serov added.Hyroad Energy said the acquisition includes the vehicles, supporting software systems, and operational infrastructure necessary to deploy and maintain the fleet. The near-term outlook for the once high-flying electric vehicle industry looks hazy at best and more bankruptcies can be expected.

Shares of Nikola Corp. (NKLA) plunged on Wednesday after the EV-maker <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/nikola-initiates-comprehensive-voluntary-chapter-11-sale-process-302380185.html">filed</a> for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following its failure to raise capital and preserve cash for its operations.The company has also filed a motion seeking authorization to pursue an auction and sale process under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.Nikola said it has approximately $47 million in cash on hand to fund the foregoing activities, implement the post-petition sale process, and exit Chapter 11 through a planned process.The company also intends to request the Court’s permission to sell its assets within a timeline that balances its liquidity needs with its significant pre-petition marketing efforts.CEO Steve Girsky said that in recent months, the company has taken several actions to raise capital, reduce liabilities, clean up its balance sheet, and preserve cash to sustain its operations.“Unfortunately, our very best efforts have not been enough to overcome these significant challenges, and the Board has determined that Chapter 11 represents the best possible path forward under the circumstances for the Company and its stakeholders,” he said.Nikola believes a structured sale process is the best possible solution to maximize the value of its assets.
