OM Outset Medical Inc

$OM Axios reporting that HHS is calling for changes in the dialysis market which is dominated by DaVita and Fresenius. The plan is to reduce government overreach, promoting accountability, competition, and innovation. It blames consolidation in the market where the two companies constitute 74% of the market where they leverage market power into higher prices. This is a big positive for Onset Medical.

$OM Insiders sell for many reasons. However, they only have one reason to buy; they believe their stock price is undervalued. The buyer is one of the principles of the company. He already owned 2.5 million shares and recently added 245,000 at an average price of $3.55. There can't be a clearer sign that there is good news ahead.

$OM Form 4 filed Oct 5: 10% owner Braden Michael Leonard bought 244,909 shares (~$870K) at ~$3.55 avg on Oct 1–2. He now holds 2.76M shares. Context: he also bought ~$3M worth in May at $5.00 — this is adding to an existing position, not a first-time buy.

$OM The VA Hospital System has begun its “Refresh” of Tablo. The hospitals in MD and Florida have already replaced their machines (7 total) and more hospitals are likely on the way. This is a MAJOR contract, right up there with HCA (btw the US Govt does not like press releases, so you’d get this details from public records of procurement and sales). Notably, this is not a new contract with the VA, it is simply undertaken under the umbrella agreement already in place. And the best part….the CFO said Refreshes were not part of the 2026 guidance (it is additive).

$OM what keeps me heavily invested in Outset Medical is the product, the service, the signals of adoption of Tablo, and the prospect of hospital-to-home. Here we have a Christus Health Hospital that has internalized Tablo with the support of another Christus Hospital. As a background, Christus is the 9th largest health system in the US with 66 hospitals. I think given the centralized nature of procurement at Christus, this will likely evolve into another HCA-like agreement with Outset.
