What Is Pi Network? Pi Network is a social cryptocurrency, developer platform, and ecosystem designed for widespread accessibility and real-world utility. It enables users to mine and transact Pi using a mobile-friendly interface while supporting applications built within its blockchain ecosystem.  Supply Model and Mining Mechanism The Maximum Supply of Pi is 100 billion tokens. This remains true despite the fact that all tokens were minted at the genesis as technically required by the blockchain protocol.  Circulating Supply includes all Migrated Mining Rewards and all tokens that entered circulation from other buckets of the allocations, which at its maximum could be summed up to equal the Effective Total Supply.   Pi’s mining rewards are distributed based on an issuance formula that follows a declining exponential model defined in the Pi whitepaper. Users can increase the amount of mining rewards they receive based on their individual contributions to the network, like Security Circles, using utility-based Pi apps, running Nodes, etc. For each month, the amount of Pi to be distributed as mobile balance is capped and determined by the model, regardless of how many people or how many types of mining rewards there are during the month. The capping is achieved by the design of a system-wide base mining rate, and each type of mining rewards to each individual are just a multiplier of this base mining rate. As the monthly supplies always diminish, the base mining rate generally decreases over time.   Fewer Pi may also be issued because the real Pi issuance on the blockchain depends on Pioneers passing KYC and completing all steps required for migration to the Mainnet. Despite all efforts to facilitate and remind Pioneers to complete those required steps, there are always dropoffs along the way, resulting in less than all outstanding mobile balances to be issued on the blockchain. Because of this mechanism, the community issued amount (Migrated Mining Rewards) on the blockchain will likely be closer and closer to a line lower than the 65 billion. This is thus the reason for the variable Effective Total Supply which incorporates this effect. Effective Total Supply results from all Migrated Mining Rewards divided by 65%, as opposed to the Maximum Supply of 100 billion.  Ecosystem and Adoption Pi Network has built an integrated ecosystem that facilitates real-world transactions and decentralized applications. Pi can be used as a medium of exchange for goods and services, including online commerce and local brick-and-mortar businesses. (BIDU)&nbsp;reportedly announced on Wednesday that it is revamping&nbsp;its flagship search engine by leveraging artificial intelligence&nbsp;and adding a voice function.&nbsp;A Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-02/baidu-overhauls-search-engine-with-ai-features-voice-fuction?srnd=phx-technology">report</a> stated that the overhaul was announced during a media event in Beijing. Baidu Reportedly Overhauling Flagship Search Engine Amid Slump In Ad Revenue

Baidu’s digital advertising revenue has been dropping for the past four quarters, and the company is hoping the changes will reengage its user base and reverse the slump.

Multiple brokerages lowered their price target on Chinese EV maker Nio Inc. (NIO) after the company reported disappointing first-quarter earnings on Tuesday.The firm reported total revenue of RMB12.03 billion ($1.67 billion), representing an increase of 21.5% year-over-year (YoY), but below an analyst estimate of RMB12.46 billion, as per Finchat data.Adjusted and diluted net loss per share was RMB3.01, compared with a loss of RMB2.39 in the first quarter of 2024, and higher than the expected loss of RMB2.38.Subsequently, Mizuho lowered the firm's price target on Nio to $3.50 from $4 while keeping a ‘Neutral’ rating on the shares. The new price target represents a 13% upside to the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.While Chinese competition remains strong, the firm says Nio’s June quarter delivery guidance is stronger, with 2025 model year refreshes and brands Onvo and Firefly continuing to ramp up. Nio Q1 Earnings Disappoint Investors: Retail Sees Stock Hitting $2

For the second quarter, Nio expects to deliver between 72,000 and 75,000 vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of 25.5% to 30.7%. 

Shares of Chinese technology company Baidu Inc. (BIDU) traded 2.2% higher in Wednesday’s premarket after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings.Revenue grew 3% year-on-year (YoY) to&nbsp;RMB32.5 billion ($4.47 billion), beating the analyst consensus estimate of RMB31 billion, as per Finchat data.Baidu leaned further into artificial intelligence&nbsp;(AI)&nbsp;and cloud services to offset declines in its traditional advertising business.The bulk of Baidu’s revenue continues to come from its core business, which brought in RMB25.5 billion, up 7% YoY.&nbsp;Non-marketing revenue increased by 40% YoY to RMB9.4 billion. However, online advertising revenue fell 6% YoY to RMB16.0 billion, underscoring the shift in focus away from traditional income streams.Baidu’s video platform, iQIYI, generated RMB7.2 billion, marking a 9% decline from the previous year.&nbsp;Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of RMB18.54 also beat the consensus estimate of RMB13.84.Operational costs increased to RMB17.5 billion, driven by rising traffic acquisition and cloud&nbsp;service-related expenses.&nbsp;Baidu’s spending on sales, marketing, and administration climbed 10% YoY to RMB5.9 billion, largely due to increased promotional activities.&nbsp;In contrast, R&amp;D costs dropped 15% to RMB4.5 billion, thanks to cuts in personnel spending.Operating income declined 18%, and the operating margin contracted by 300 basis points to 14%. (NIO) will now launch its Firefly brand in Europe between June and August, later than its initial plan to launch the brand in the region in the first half of the year, Bloomberg <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-22/nio-looks-to-european-partners-to-overcome-expansion-challenges">reported</a> on Tuesday.Nio’s President Qin Lihong announced the delay at a briefing ahead of the opening of the Shanghai auto show, the report said, while adding that the company has faced unexpected challenges in expanding in Europe.Nio is now seeking to forge alliances with local partners to expand its presence in the region, the report stated.“We have underestimated the time and complexity of establishing and developing sales and service networks in Europe,” CEO William Li said Tuesday in Shanghai, as reported by Bloomberg.Nio unveiled the Firefly brand in December. Chinese EV Maker Nio Delays Europe Launch Of Firefly EV, Says Report: Retail Stays Bearish

Bloomberg reported that Nio is now set to launch its Firefly brand in Europe between June and August, later than its initial plan of launching the brand in the region in the first half of the year.

Alibaba Retail Chatter Spikes After Carnage From Trump Tariff Escalation: Retail Expecting More Pain

Shares of Nio Inc. (NIO) were in the spotlight on Monday morning after a media report said that Chinese battery giant CATL is in talks to buy a controlling stake in the EV maker’s power unit.Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/catl-talks-buy-controlling-stake-nios-power-unit-sources-say-2025-04-07/">reported</a>, citing four people familiar with the matter, that CATL is in talks to buy a controlling stake in Nio's power unit, which runs over 3,000 battery swapping stations in China.The sources did not divulge how much CATL offered as part of the proposal. However, one of the sources told Reuters that Nio Power was valued at over RMB 10 billion ($1.37 billion) during a fundraising round in 2024.Nio told Reuters that the company was promoting joint construction of battery swapping stations "with multiple investors, including CATL".Last month, Nio said it has partnered with CATL to jointly build a battery swapping network for passenger vehicles.The two companies will pursue capital cooperation as part of the partnership signed in Ningde, Fujian province, and CATL will invest up to RMB 2.5 billion in Nio Power, the company had said.Nio offers battery swapping and charging options for its electric vehicles.
