(BIDU)&nbsp;reportedly announced on Wednesday that it is revamping&nbsp;its flagship search engine by leveraging artificial intelligence&nbsp;and adding a voice function.&nbsp;A Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-02/baidu-overhauls-search-engine-with-ai-features-voice-fuction?srnd=phx-technology">report</a> stated that the overhaul was announced during a media event in Beijing. Baidu said the upgrade is the most comprehensive in years.Following the news,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BIDU">Baidu stock</a> inched 0.5% higher in Wednesday's premarket session.Zhao Shiqi, the executive leading Baidu’s search division, explained that the company plans to shift from traditional keyword-based search to a smarter, AI-powered approach.&nbsp;The redesigned system will support natural, conversational input and voice searches, including those spoken in multiple Chinese dialects.Users can pose queries through spoken language, produce visuals or text-based content, and organize tasks, essentially transforming the app into a digital assistant.&nbsp;With these enhancements, the report noted that Baidu aims to reengage its user base and reverse its slump in digital advertising revenue, which has been dropping for the past four quarters.In the first-quarter (Q1), Baidu’s online marketing revenue slipped 6%&nbsp;year-on-year (YoY) to RMB16 billion ($2.21 billion).However, the company’s Q1 Core’s revenue rose by 7%, fueled by a 42% YoY jump in its rapidly expanding AI Cloud division.Baidu has experienced a decline in user engagement as rivals, such as ByteDance Ltd.’s Douyin and AI-centric web browsers,&nbsp;have&nbsp;gained traction.&nbsp;At the Beijing event, company leaders acknowledged that Baidu’s search platform had become too complex and required simplification. The tech firm also debuted a new image-to-video generation model on Wednesday, designed to help brands produce short-form visual content for Baidu’s feeds.&nbsp;According to a Reuters&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/baidu-launches-ai-video-generator-overhauls-search-features-2025-07-02/">report</a>, MuseSteamer is a business-focused image-to-video generator. Baidu Reportedly Overhauling Flagship Search Engine Amid Slump In Ad Revenue

Baidu’s digital advertising revenue has been dropping for the past four quarters, and the company is hoping the changes will reengage its user base and reverse the slump.

Multiple brokerages lowered their price target on Chinese EV maker Nio Inc. (NIO) after the company reported disappointing first-quarter earnings on Tuesday.The firm reported total revenue of RMB12.03 billion ($1.67 billion), representing an increase of 21.5% year-over-year (YoY), but below an analyst estimate of RMB12.46 billion, as per Finchat data.Adjusted and diluted net loss per share was RMB3.01, compared with a loss of RMB2.39 in the first quarter of 2024, and higher than the expected loss of RMB2.38.Subsequently, Mizuho lowered the firm's price target on Nio to $3.50 from $4 while keeping a ‘Neutral’ rating on the shares. The new price target represents a 13% upside to the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.While Chinese competition remains strong, the firm says Nio’s June quarter delivery guidance is stronger, with 2025 model year refreshes and brands Onvo and Firefly continuing to ramp up. Nio Q1 Earnings Disappoint Investors: Retail Sees Stock Hitting $2

Shares of Chinese technology company Baidu Inc. (BIDU) traded 2.2% higher in Wednesday’s premarket after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings.Revenue grew 3% year-on-year (YoY) to&nbsp;RMB32.5 billion ($4.47 billion), beating the analyst consensus estimate of RMB31 billion, as per Finchat data.Baidu leaned further into artificial intelligence&nbsp;(AI)&nbsp;and cloud services to offset declines in its traditional advertising business.The bulk of Baidu’s revenue continues to come from its core business, which brought in RMB25.5 billion, up 7% YoY.&nbsp;Non-marketing revenue increased by 40% YoY to RMB9.4 billion. However, online advertising revenue fell 6% YoY to RMB16.0 billion, underscoring the shift in focus away from traditional income streams.Baidu’s video platform, iQIYI, generated RMB7.2 billion, marking a 9% decline from the previous year.&nbsp;Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of RMB18.54 also beat the consensus estimate of RMB13.84.Operational costs increased to RMB17.5 billion, driven by rising traffic acquisition and cloud&nbsp;service-related expenses.&nbsp;Baidu’s spending on sales, marketing, and administration climbed 10% YoY to RMB5.9 billion, largely due to increased promotional activities.&nbsp;In contrast, R&amp;D costs dropped 15% to RMB4.5 billion, thanks to cuts in personnel spending.Operating income declined 18%, and the operating margin contracted by 300 basis points to 14%.
