Since every allocation tracks the Migrated Mining Rewards of the community, the Effective Total Supply can be calculated by dividing the current Migrated Mining Rewards of Pi on the Mainnet blockchain by 65%. The other allocations within the Effective Total Supply can then be calculated based on the same proportions as the Maximum Supply, e.g. at most 10% of the Effective Total Supply is available in the foundation reserve, 5% of the Effective Total Supply is available for liquidity purposes, and 20% of the Effective Total Supply is available for the Core Team. This remains true despite the fact that all tokens were minted at the genesis as technically required by the blockchain protocol.  Circulating Supply includes all Migrated Mining Rewards and all tokens that entered circulation from other buckets of the allocations, which at its maximum could be summed up to equal the Effective Total Supply.&nbsp;  Pi’s mining rewards are distributed based on an issuance formula that follows a declining exponential model defined in the Pi whitepaper. Users can increase the amount of mining rewards they receive based on their individual contributions to the network, like Security Circles, using utility-based Pi apps, running Nodes, etc. For each month, the amount of Pi to be distributed as mobile balance is capped and determined by the model, regardless of how many people or how many types of mining rewards there are during the month. The capping is achieved by the design of a system-wide base mining rate, and each type of mining rewards to each individual are just a multiplier of this base mining rate. As the monthly supplies always diminish, the base mining rate generally decreases over time.&nbsp;  Fewer Pi may also be issued because the real Pi issuance on the blockchain depends on Pioneers passing KYC and completing all steps required for migration to the Mainnet. Despite all efforts to facilitate and remind Pioneers to complete those required steps, there are always dropoffs along the way, resulting in less than all outstanding mobile balances to be issued on the blockchain. Because of this mechanism, the community issued amount (Migrated Mining Rewards) on the blockchain will likely be closer and closer to a line lower than the 65 billion. This is thus the reason for the variable Effective Total Supply which incorporates this effect. Effective Total Supply results from all Migrated Mining Rewards divided by 65%, as opposed to the Maximum Supply of 100 billion. The company is seeking to raise between $5 billion and $10 billion, according to the filing.Ackman had previously sought to take Pershing Square public in 2024.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Pershing To Adopt A Dual Listing Structure</h2>Pershing Square stated in its filing that the offering will take a dual listing approach. This includes the shares of Pershing Square USA, a closed-end fund, as well as those of Pershing Square Capital Management, a hedge fund.For every 100 shares subscribed by investors through the IPO, they will also receive 20 shares of the hedge fund. Investors participating in the $2.8 billion private placement will receive 30 shares of the hedge fund for every 100 shares of the closed-end fund, according to the filing.Investors will be able to subscribe to the company's shares at $50 apiece. Pershing Square common shares trade under the symbol “PS” while the closed-end fund’s shares will trade under the symbol “PSUS.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Ackman’s Pivot</h2>The Pershing Square IPO filing comes after Ackman’s attempt to list the closed-end fund at a valuation of $25 billion fell apart in 2024.Ackman stated in a July 2024 letter to shareholders that there is an “enormous” sensitivity to the size of the transaction.“Particularly in light of the novelty of the structure and closed-end funds’ very negative trading history, it requires a significant leap of faith and ultimately careful analysis and judgment for investors to recognize that this closed-end company will trade at a premium after the IPO when very few in history have done so,” he said.The investor has cited Warren Buffett as his inspiration behind launching Pershing Square, according to a CNBC&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/14/ackman-says-buffetts-career-inspired-him-to-ipo-pershing-square-funds.html">report</a>. “I found eventually copies of the early Buffett partnership letters, which told an interesting story. According to a Reuters News <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/ackmans-pershing-targets-5-billion-ipo-closed-end-fund-bloomberg-news-reports-2025-11-25/">report</a>, the closed-end fund is expected to mimic Ackman's existing hedge fund but offer lower fees and faster access to capital. The move could increase the fund’s appeal among a broader pool of investors, including pension funds, endowments, and retail investors who are typically excluded from hedge funds.Ackman said last year he planned to list a similar fund, Pershing Square USA Ltd., on the New York Stock Exchange and intended to raise as much as $25 billion, but temporarily pulled the listing after only raising about $2 billion.The closed-end fund structure reportedly made it difficult to raise capital because such funds often trade at a discount to their underlying assets. Bill Ackman Targets $5B IPO For New US Fund, With Some Free Shares As Sweetener: Report

According to a Bloomberg News report, the IPO of the closed-end fund will coincide with that of his hedge fund, Pershing Square Capital Management.

Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square is set to invest $900 million in Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. (HHH) to raise its <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2025/05/05/3073918/0/en/Pershing-Square-to-Invest-900-million-to-Acquire-Nine-Million-Newly-Issued-Shares-of-Howard-Hughes-Holdings-and-Transform-HHH-Into-a-Diversified-Holding-Company.html">stake</a> in the real estate company to 46.9%. HHH shares surged over 7% in Monday’s pre-market following the announcement.Pershing Square will acquire nine million newly issued shares of HHH. The companies said that the investment will enable HHH to acquire controlling stakes in high-quality, durable growth public and private operating firms while continuing to invest in and grow its core real estate development and Master Planned Communities business.Pershing Square will pay $100 per share to acquire its stake, representing a 48% premium to HHH’s closing share price on Friday.Ackman’s company said it “has generally agreed to limit its voting power to 40% and its beneficial ownership to 47%.”While Ackman has been named the Executive Chairman of the HHH Board of Directors, Ryan Israel, Pershing Square’s Chief Investment Officer, will become HHH’s Chief Investment Officer. Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman went on an offensive late Sunday night against President Donald Trump's tariff policy that has sent global markets into a tizzy and sparked fears of a recession.In a lengthy&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/BillAckman/status/1908992002366292286">post</a> on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ackman acknowledged that Trump had framed tariffs as the most pressing geopolitical issue as other nations had exploited trade imbalances at the expense of American jobs and economic growth.Ackman warned that Trump's "massive and disproportionate tariffs on our friends and our enemies alike"&nbsp;risk sparking a global "economic nuclear war" and urged the president to "call a 90-day time out" to negotiate better trade deals and restore confidence."If, on the other hand, on April 9th we launch [an] economic nuclear war on every country in the world, business investment will grind to a halt, consumers will close their wallets and pocketbooks, and we will severely damage our reputation with the rest of the world that will take years and potentially decades to rehabilitate."&nbsp;"Business is a confidence game," he wrote.
