BeiGene (<a class="mention" data-mention="$BGNE" data-symbol-id="BGNE" href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BGNE" target="_blank">$BGNE</a>) shares jumped over 5% pre-market Wednesday, with the oncology company’s stock poised to reach a two-week high after the European Commission approved its drug Tevimbra (Tislelizumab) for first-line treatment of gastric and esophageal cancers.The approval allows Tevimbra, in combination with chemotherapy, to treat esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma.&nbsp;Clinical trial data showed that Tevimbra improved median overall survival to 17.2 months versus 10.6 months with chemotherapy alone, demonstrating statistically significant and clinically meaningful benefits.Mark Lanasa, Chief Medical Officer for Solid Tumors at BeiGene, emphasized Tevimbra’s role as the cornerstone of the company’s solid tumor portfolio, noting that more than 1.3 million patients worldwide have been treated with the drug.&nbsp;The latest approval adds to BeiGene’s momentum, marking six EU indications granted in just over a year.Esophageal cancer, which accounts for over 90% of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cases, is one of the deadliest cancers. Chinese search engine and artificial intelligence (AI) company Baidu, Inc. (<a class="mention" data-mention="$BIDU" data-symbol-id="BIDU" href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BIDU" target="_blank">$BIDU</a>) reported sub-par third-quarter earnings amid weakness in its core online marketing business.Beijing, China-based Baidu reported third-quarter non-GAAP earnings per ADS of 16.60 yuan or $2.37, marking a 19% year-on-year (YoY) decline and a 21% sequential drop. Analysts, on average, estimated 17.90 yuan per ADS for the quarter, according to Yahoo Finance.Total revenue slipped 3% YoY and 1% sequentially to 33.56 billion yuan or $4.78 billion, slightly ahead of the 33.43-billion-yuan consensus estimate polled by LSEG, according to Reuters.Baidu Core revenue was flat YoY to 26.5 billion yuan, with online marketing revenue slipping 4% to 18.8 billion yuan. Despite a mixed outlook due to tariff threats and the structural challenges faced by the Chinese economy, the firm remained positive about outbound travel demand in China.&nbsp;Trip.com shares have rallied over 65% for the year-to-date period.
