$RIG Billion in new contacts and we are down, merger getting approved and down. They should initiate a buyback of 100 mil shares post merger as they have the cash flow too . Force a short squeeze, sell back those shares to the shorts for $40 and pay off all the debt, initiate a dividend.

$RIG STAVANGER (dpa-AFX) - Offshore driller Transocean Ltd. (RIG), announced on Friday that its contract backlog has increased to about $1.1 billion following a new award and final approval of a previously announced agreement with Equinor. Transocean said its rig Transocean Norge was awarded a two-well contract with A/S Norske Shell, expected to last about 120 days and add $62 million to backlog, excluding additional services. The deal also includes a single-well option. The company added that Equinor ASA (EQNR) has formally approved its agreement for three harsh-environment semisubmersible rigs in Norway - Transocean Enabler, Transocean Encourage, and Transocean Endurance - converting the $1.0 billion contract value into firm backlog

The ~$550M firm backlog is about 8.8% of its ~$6.28B market value at $5.62, 16:00 ET Oct 16, 2026. Neither starts before 2027: Proteus starts Q1, Conqueror Q3, each straight after its current job, operators undisclosed. Caveat: $550M is revenue from 2027, not profit; the pending Valaris deal issues 15.235 RIG shares per Valaris share.

New line was oversubscribed; $510M one stays till then; Oct 1 it retired $165M Aquila notes plus call premium, saving ~$22M interest to maturity. CADE ruling is final 15 days after Oct 15-16 publication; expected Q4 2026 close also needs shareholder votes.
