He previously ran the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency from 2022 to late 2025, overseeing a 16,000 person agency. He'd already been advising Satellogic since March, but this moves him into an actual operating role, running internal operations and shaping the company's defense and intelligence strategy. This fits a broader shift for Satellogic, leaning harder into defense and intelligence contracting rather than purely commercial imaging. Having someone who used to run the agency buying this kind of data now running the company selling it carries real weight for that pitch. Also worth flagging for context, World Space Business Week runs September 14 through 17, and the first Merlin constellation satellite is still on track for an October launch, so there's more on the calendar this month.
