Kerrisdale Capital on Wednesday disclosed a short position on Tom Lee-led Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), stating that the digital asset treasury (DAT) playbook has become “basic and unoriginal.”<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> continued to gain in morning trade, up 1.5%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits, however, dipped to ‘neutral’ from ‘bullish’ over the past day.The equities market has seen a surge in companies pivoting to holding cryptocurrencies on their balance sheets as the Trump administration took a friendlier stance on regulation. “As near-idential copycats overwhelm the market, premiums are collapsing and the ability to issue shares well above NAV to boost&nbsp;ETH-per-share is disappearing,” the research firm said.Kerrisdale Capital pointed to Michael Saylor-backed Strategy (MSTR) as an example of reducing net asset value (NAV). “The OG DAT, MSTR, has seen its premium slide from 2-2.5x NAV to around 1.4x after unpopular financings &amp; policy reversals broke the spell,” it said. “If the pioneer with a cult following can’t keep the magic alive, no one can.”It added that BMNR’s&nbsp;premium has also been sliding lower, and will probably “continue bleeding” until it reaches or falls below the NAV. “The lower it goes, the slower the ETH-per-share accretion, until it collapses below 1,” the firm said.BMNR is currently the largest Ethereum holding DAT in the market with more than&nbsp;two million tokens in its treasury, followed by SharpLink (SBET),&nbsp;which has around 800 million tokens. According CoinGecko data, there are around 13 companies with Ethereum on their balance sheets. This includes companies like Fundamental Global (FGNX) and BitDigital (BTBT),&nbsp;which also announced the&nbsp;inclusion of&nbsp;Ethereum as a part of their long-term treasury strategy this year.In addition to reducing returns, Kerrisdale Capital also critiqued Lee’s leadership. “Tom Lee has proven to be an underwhelming meme lord. No cat videos. No speeches to mortgage your house to buy ETH,” it said. “Poor utilization of caps lock, emojis, GIFs, AI slop. Ethereum (ETH)-holding&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/FGNX">FGNX’s stock</a> dipped 6.5%.&nbsp;According to a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.theblock.co/post/369511/new-crypto-hedge-fund-launches-to-bet-on-treasury-and-other-public-companies-targeting-100-million-aum">report</a> by The Block, the fund is targeting $100 million in assets under management (AUM) and is focused on three types of “blockstocks”. The first being pure-play crypto firms like Coinbase (COIN) and Circle (CRCL). The second category includes traditional companies with crypto exposure, such as Robinhood (HOOD). The final category is digital asset treasury (DAT) firms."The blockstocks opportunity is unfolding in waves, for example, today it's DATs, tomorrow it could be upcoming IPOs, or distressed infrastructure plays," said BlockSpaceForce CEO Spencer Yang, according to the report. "The biggest alpha comes from companies that engineer products with crypto, not just hold it." Currently, the hedge fund is focused on DATs tied to Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Chainlink (LINK), and Solana (SOL).While he&nbsp;declined to disclose the fund’s current size or backers, citing confidentiality under its private placement structure, Yang said that the fund is&nbsp;structured as an evergreen and open-ended investment. Crypto treasury companies are evolving beyond Bitcoin. While pioneers like MicroStrategy showed the world what was possible, companies like Bitmine Immersion are now taking that playbook and applying it to Ethereum. 

Ethereum (ETH) crossed $4,400 for the first time in over three years on Tuesday after spot ETH exchange-traded funds registered a record inflow of more than $1 billion in a day during the previous session.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a> jumped as much as 5.4% over the past day. The last time its price crossed $4,400 was in December 2021. While still 10% below its record high of $4,878, seen nearly four years ago, the cryptocurrency marked a new milestone for 2025 with gains of more than 32% this year.&nbsp;On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around Ethereum remained in ‘bullish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;Ethereum also saw the highest liquidations in the last 24 hours, according to Coinglass&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.coinglass.com/LiquidationData">data</a>, amounting to $43 million. More than $40 million came from short bets, and only $2 million from long positions. Meanwhile, other cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), saw single-digit liquidations.Stocks of Ethereum-holding companies, Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) and FG Nexus (FGNX), also gained in pre-market trade as Ethereum’s price rallied.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> rose more than 2% while FGNX’s stock was up nearly 10%.&nbsp;Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around BMNR and FGNX rose higher within the ‘extremely bullish’ territory over the past day. Moreover, BMNR was the top trending ticker on the platform at the time of writing, as chatter increased to ‘extremely high’ from ‘high’ levels a day ago.Both companies are going head-to-head to establish the biggest Ethereum treasury in the world. While Bitmine set its goal to acquire 5% of Ethereum’s global supply, FG Nexus said on Monday that it’s&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/fg-nexus-goes-all-in-on-ethereum-aims-for-10-of-total-supply/chruUduRdIz">aiming</a> to acquire 10% of the cryptocurrency’s supply. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around Ethereum improved to ‘neutral’ from ‘bearish’ territory a day ago.Fundamental Global said it was establishing “one of the largest” capital frameworks in the ETH digital asset treasury space. Currently, BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) holds the largest Ethereum treasury with over 833,000 ETH tokens valued at around $2.9 billion.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> jumped more than 11% in morning trade as Ethereum’s price rallied. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the company moved higher within ‘extremely bullish’ territory. BitMine’s stock was also among the top trending tickers on the platform at the time of writing.&nbsp;Institutional interest in Ethereum has been growing at a steady pace this year, with publicly traded companies like Sharplink Gaming (SBET) and Dynamix Corporation’s (DYNX) The Ether Machine also setting up ETH treasuries.“We believe this framework will enable us to capitalize on ETH accumulation opportunities and support our target of a 10% stake in the Ethereum Network," said Kyle Cerminara, CEO and Chairman of Fundamental Global, which will soon be renamed FG Nexus.The company said that while the regulatory statement has been filed with the SEC, it has not come into effect. The shelf registration will allow it to offer and sell up to an aggregate of $5 billion of the company’s securities.&nbsp; Fundamental Global’s stock, however, slumped more than 40% in morning trade on Friday. Ethereum’s Price Crosses $4,000 For First Time In 2025 – Here’s Why BMNR Stock Is Trending

Ethereum hit the milestone after Fundamental Global announced a $5 billion shelf registration statement with the SEC to support its ETH acquisition strategy. 

Consensys, the blockchain software firm behind the MetaMask digital wallet, is reportedly planning to lay off 49 employees, or about 7% of its workforce.According to a Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-22/crypto-software-firm-consensys-eliminates-about-7-of-workforce">report</a>, the job cuts are a part of a broader profitability push by the company. A spokesperson stated the company recently acquired a startup with around 30 employees, who will remain at the firm, and that hiring continues in other areas. Consensys’ largest office is in Brooklyn.The report cited that Consensys cut around 11% of its workforce at the start of 2023, adding that last year, it eliminated around 20% of its workforce, while blaming regulatory uncertainty and broad macroeconomic conditions.In 2025, the regulatory climate has been more favorable toward cryptocurrencies so far since President Donald Trump took office and anointed himself the ‘Crypto President.’ The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) agreed to dismiss its case against Conensys earlier this year.&nbsp;Joe Lubin, Consensys CEO and one of Ethereum’s original co-founders, is also chairman of SharpLink Gaming (SBET), a newly launched public company focused on accumulating Ethereum’s native token Ether (ETH) and broader ecosystem growth.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/SBET">SharpLink’s stock</a> gained more than 6% in morning trade on Tuesday and has jumped more than 267% since its launch in May.&nbsp;Meanwhile,&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a> dipped more than 4.4% in the past 24 hours as&nbsp;the cryptocurrency market’s valuation fell to below $4 trillion.
