Silver has hit fresh peaks in seven of the last 10 sessions. Daan Struyven, co-head of global commodities research at Goldman Sachs, told Forbes on Thursday that silver prices are likely to remain highly volatile as long as uncertainty over U.S. tariffs persists. Struyven also pointed to a physical squeeze in the London silver market, with inventories low as metal is being shipped to the U.S. amid tariff concerns.He said that many of the factors lifting gold, such as expectations of lower interest rates, also help silver by boosting investor demand. Spot Silver Continues Hitting Fresh Highs – But This Analyst Warns Of Potential Consolidation

Spot silver prices jumped to a record high of $62.9 per ounce on Thursday, a day after the U.S. Federal Reserve announced the much-anticipated 25 basis point rate cut.

At the same time, physical supply has tightened, as shrinking London vault inventories work to keep up with robust demand from the U.S. and India.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fed Rate Cut Expectations</h2>Precious metals, including gold, gained on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s Federal Open Market Committee decision, where a 25-basis-point rate cut is widely expected. Spot gold (XAU/USD) rose 0.35% to $4,205.5 per ounce, while February 2026 futures gained 0.35% to $4,232 an ounce.The CME FedWatch tool now shows an 87.4% chance of a 25-bps reduction in the key rate, slightly lower than last week’s reading of 88%.Lower rates tend to weaken the U.S. dollar and reduce the appeal of interest-bearing assets, making non-yielding metals like gold more attractive to investors.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Stocktwits Users React?</h2>The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SLV">iShares Silver Trust</a> ETF, which tracks silver, was up 3.7% and trending on Stocktwits.
