SOXS is the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bear 3X ETF, a leveraged inverse fund designed to deliver approximately three times the opposite of the daily return of the NYSE Semiconductor Index. It generally rises when semiconductor stocks fall and falls sharply when they rise, making it a short-term tactical trading tool rather than a conventional long-term investment. Because it resets daily, compounding and volatility can cause its performance over periods longer than one day to differ substantially from simply −3× the index’s cumulative return; it is therefore high risk.
