What is Chromia? Chromia is an open source public blockchain conceived of by Swedish company Chromaway AB. The Chroma token (CHR) was launched in May of 2019. The technology behind the Chromia blockchain is adapted from an earlier technology called ‘Postchain’, a solution provided by Chromaway AB for enterprise clients.&nbsp;  How does Chromia work? Chromia is a standalone Layer-1 blockchain and EVM compatible Layer-2 enhancement for Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum. It is designed to enhance existing dApps and allow for the creation of next-generation dApps by providing scalability, improved data handling, and customizable fee structures. The blockchain uses a unique architecture called relational blockchain, as well as a custom programming language called Rell.  Rell is designed to code and function very similarly to SQL, allowing developers to leverage the security and immutability of blockchain while storing and handling data with the efficiency of a relational database.&nbsp; Each dApp running on Chromia operates on its own sidechain which is rooted in the main blockchain. This allows each application to scale more efficiently and gives each application developer the freedom to choose from a variety of fee structures. For example, one application may require users to pay transaction fees in CHR (similar to how Ethereum or Bitcoin work), while another application could stake enough CHR to reserve computational power and allow their users to make unlimited transactions without paying any fees at all.&nbsp;  What applications have been built on Chromia? Chromia already has a wide variety of applications building upon their blockchain, using their chain as a decentralized storage layer, and using their Layer-2 enhancements. These applications range from DeFi options trading platform Hedget, to open world farming game My Neighbor Alice, to government land registry initiative LAC PropertyChain.&nbsp; One of the latest features in development is a new NFT standard called Chromia Originals, which will operate both as a native standard on Chromia’s chain as well as an enhancement layer for existing ERC-721 and BEP-721 tokens. Work on these Layer-2 enhancements are being developed in cooperation with My Neighbor Alice.  Who is behind Chromia? Chromia’s core team consists of industry veterans Or Perelman, Henrik Hjelte and Alex Mizrahi. All three have deep roots in the crypto space, going back to the early days of Bitcoin and Ethereum. For example, Alex published several early academic papers on Proof of Stake consensus and was also one of the key figures behind Colored Coins, one of the first projects to develop the idea of ‘tokens’ that would later be brought to prominence by Ethereum.  In summary, Chromia is a Layer-1 and Layer-2 blockchain solution under active development, with the goal of delivering enhanced features and data handling and storage capabilities to decentralized applications.

Shares of Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) climbed on Wednesday afternoon despite Truist lowering its price target by $15, flagging lingering investor caution over the company’s planned deal with Foot Locker and economic risks in the second half of the fiscal year.&nbsp;Truist trimmed its price target to $230, down from $245, and maintained a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares, as per TheFly.According to the brokerage, the company’s first-quarter results and full-year guidance met or slightly exceeded expectations, but the planned acquisition of Foot Locker (FL) remains an overhang.Truist noted ongoing concerns about macroeconomic pressures in the second half of 2025. It While investors may need more time to assess the Foot Locker deal, Truist expects Dick’s competitive strengths to continue supporting the stock.Dick’s Sporting Goods Executive Chairman Edward Stack said during the company’s earnings call on Wednesday that the deal is expected to generate synergy gains of $100 million to $125 million over the medium term.&nbsp;The Foot Locker deal is expected to allow Dick’s Sporting Goods to enter international markets for the first time. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year.&nbsp;The sporting goods giant also reaffirmed its full-year guidance, including the expected impact of all current tariffs. However, the outlook does not account for acquisition-related costs, investment costs, or results from the Foot Locker acquisition.Dick’s Sporting Goods reported earnings per share (EPS) of $3.37, beating analyst estimates of $3.21, according to Koyfin data.Its revenue rose 5% year-on-year, coming in at $3.17 billion, above the Wall Street estimate of $3.12 billion.&nbsp;Comparable sales rose 4.5% in the first quarter (Q1), marking the fifth straight quarter of over 4% growth, driven by omnichannel experience and product assortment.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DKS">Dick’s Sporting Goods stock</a> was up 1.7% in afternoon trade on Wednesday. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at $2.75, beating consensus estimates of $2.68 quoted by analysts.The company attributed its strong performance to an “excellent back-to-school season” and “continued focus” on its strategic pillars.The sporting goods retailer has raised its full-year 2024 EPS guidance to between $13.65 and $13.95, up from $13.55 to $13.90 issued previously. &nbsp;Comparable sales growth rate for Q3 stood at 4.2%. Comparable sales growth for the year has been revised to a range of 3.6% to 4.2%, up from the earlier 2.5% to 3.5%.“We are very proud of our Q3 results and our performance year-to-date…We believe our differentiated product, quality service and powerful omni-channel experience will resonate well with our athletes this holiday season," Lauren Hobart, president and CEO, said in a statement.Retail sentiment on the stock turned ‘extremely bullish’ (92/100) from ‘bearish’ (59/100) a day ago, marking a year-high.
