Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

That dependence was thrown into sharp relief on October 9, 2025, when Beijing announced sweeping export controls on scandium and six other critical rare earth elements. The restrictions, widely viewed as geopolitical leverage ahead of President Trump&#8217;s summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, rattled defense contractors and manufacturers across the West. Although the controls were temporarily paused following the <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2025/10/30/trump-says-xi-agreed-to-one-year-trade-deal-after-amazing-talks" target="_blank">Trump&#8211;Xi agreement</a> in Seoul on October 30, the episode underscored what many policymakers already feared: China sees critical minerals as tools of statecraft.&#8220;The narrative around Chinese control of resources won&#8217;t change just because the export controls are delayed by a year,&#8221; said David S Abraham, a professor at Idaho&#8217;s Boise State University and an expert in rare earths in an article published on <a href="https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/international/global/china-pauses-rare-earth-export-control-expansion-one-year-easing-pressure-global-buyers" target="_blank">The Business Times</a>. &#8220;What this does is buy more time&#8221; to develop a response.&#8221;Allied Supply Chains RealignIn response, the United States and Australia moved swiftly to accelerate diversification. The <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/10/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-closes-billion-dollar-deals-with-australia/" target="_blank">U.S.&#8211;Australia Critical Minerals Framework</a>, signed on October 20, commits $3 billion to near-term joint projects and outlines an $8.5 billion pipeline for development. A geologist who discovered the deposit in 2014, Shirvani emphasizes the deposit&#8217;s flat topography and road access, which could reduce infrastructure costs and accelerate timelines, an advantage rare in the rugged Golden Triangle.A new Mineral Resource Estimate is planned, incorporating more than 10,000 meters of recent drillings.From Curiosity to Critical AssetScandium&#8217;s value lies in its transformative alloying properties. As annual renegotiations loom, scandium&#8217;s availability will remain contingent on geopolitics rather than market logic. This situation hearkens comparisons to the semiconductor reshoring movement that inspired the CHIPS Act, a national effort to end reliance on vulnerable foreign supply chains.&#8220;The U.S. has finally accepted that dependence on adversarial supply chains is a national security risk,&#8221; Shirvani noted recently.New policies under discussion, including price floors to counter Chinese market flooding and fast-tracked permitting for allied projects, could dramatically improve economics for Western scandium developers.For companies like Doubleview, scandium&#8217;s evolution from industrial afterthought to strategic imperative marks a defining shift. The question is no longer if Western production will expand, but which projects will deliver first.
