Pratishruti Foundation's 'JALSA' Brings Classical Music and Tribute to Zubeen Garg in Guwahati
Guwahati's Uzanbazar came alive with classical music on Saturday evening as Pratishruti Foundation , in association with Star Cement , hosted 'JALSA' — a classical music concert held at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture . The evening blended formal ceremony, artistic performance, and a moving tribute to one of Assam's most beloved cultural figures. The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting by dignitaries including Pranjal Saikia, Rahul Ch. Das, Ramen Chowdhury and Sukumar Borthakur, followed by a Saraswati Vandana by Manashi Das. Tributes were paid to late Zubeen Garg through musical performances. The programme featured felicitation of Pallab Talukdar and Kalyan Deka, and included classical performances by artists such as Anand Prasad Dikshit, Uttam Deb, Neha Bhagabati and Nandita Sarma. "Jalsa" Classical Music Event Coming to Guwahati on March 28
A classical music event titled "Jalsa" is set to take place on March 28 at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture in Uzanbazar, Guwahati. The programme is being organised by Pratishruti Foundation in association with Star Cement and Sid's Creation. The evening will be dedicated to popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, making it a fitting celebration of his contributions to music in the region. The event will feature performances by a strong lineup of artists. Taking the stage will be AIR artiste Nandita Sarma, alongside Uttam Deb, Anand Dikshit, and Neha Bhagabati. Prog raises awareness on safe menstrual practices
SHILLONG, March 16: Shubham Charitable Association, supported by Star Cement, organised a menstrual hygiene awareness programme on Monday for over 400 students from Ramakrishna Mission Secondary School, Swer, and Village Dorbar School. According to a statement here, the initiative, held in collaboration with Operation Clean Up and Martin Luther Christian University, focused on health, hygiene and environmental responsibility. During the awareness programme, educators addressed common myths and taboos while teaching students about safe menstrual practices. As part of the ‘She-Rise Zero Waste Period Mission’, reusable sanitary pads were distributed to promote sustainable, eco-friendly solutions. The effort is intended to reduce plastic-based waste and support the vision of a plastic-free Meghalaya. An interactive session was also held to encourage open discussions, allowing girls to ask questions freely and gain confidence in managing their menstrual health with dignity and awareness. “Teachers and school authorities warmly appreciated the initiative, recognising it as an important step toward empowering young girls with knowledge, confidence and sustainable health practices,” the statement said.

Assam Converts Rs 3 Lakh Crore of Advantage Assam 2.0 MoUs Into Reality, Adani Group Leads With Rs 68,000 Crore
The Assam government on Wednesday exchanged MoUs worth Rs 3 lakh crore with investors at a formal function in Guwahati, converting a significant portion of the agreements signed during Advantage Assam 2.0 — worth a total of Rs 5.18 lakh crore — into actionable investment commitments. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said 30 to 40 per cent of the Rs 3 lakh crore worth of converted MoUs are already at various stages of execution on the ground. "Generally after any mega investment summit, governments often leave the agreements signed without following them up. However, we've been constantly in touch with the investors who signed MoUs during Advantage Assam 2.0. The result is that we've translated MoUs worth Rs 3 lakh crore into reality," he said. The Chief Minister made a pitch for Assam as a mature investment destination, citing ready infrastructure across air, rail and road connectivity, land banks for immediate allocation, and ongoing development projects worth approximately Rs 3 lakh crore involving the state government, Central government, World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.
