Stellantis Stock Drops As It Reportedly Scraps Jeep and Chrysler Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles In US

CNBC reported on Friday, citing a company spokesperson, that the company has decided to end production of the plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Chrysler Pacifica starting with the 2026 model year.

The CEO said at the Goldman Sachs Industrial &amp; Auto Conference on Thursday that the company delivered 10,000 v8-equipped Hemi engine RAM vehicles in Q3 and expects to ship another 20,000 in the fourth quarter.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Other Launches</h2>The company is also looking to relaunch the Jeep Cherokee by the end of December, featuring &nbsp;a hybrid engine. It is also eyeing the launch of a new Dodge Charger with an internal combustion engine.“So we are launching hybrid because we truly believe that hybrid is going to be one of the favorite powertrains in the U.S.,” Filosa said on Thursday. The company expects its sequence of product launches to spark volume growth that is “highly sustainable and progressively better quarter by quarter.”“Through the end of November, we are on track on our guidance,” Filosa said about the company’s profitability expectations. The CEO also highlighted that the company’s execution is improving with more product launches following promised timelines.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Tariff Impact</h2>The CEO highlighted that U.S. tariffs are getting stable and the company is looking to offset the impact of the Trump administration’s tariffs by onshoring production.In October, Stellantis committed $13 billion to expand its US operations over the next four years. Stellantis CEO Says New Engine, Vehicle Models Will Drive ‘Progressively Better’ Demand 

Filosa said that the company is on track on its full year guidance through the end of November. 

Automaker Stellantis NV (STLA) is recalling 53,849 vehicles in the U.S. over concerns that the fuel pump may fail, U.S. auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Tuesday.The NHTSA <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V586-8785.pdf">noted</a> that a fuel pump failure can result in a loss of fuel flow and drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall includes model year 2017-2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia and model year 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. Some of the vehicles may have been built with a fuel delivery module (FDM) that contains internal components susceptible to heat, resulting in a loss of flow rate and, consequently, a reduction in motive power, it said. &nbsp;The remedy for the issue is currently under development. While letters notifying vehicle owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed by the end of October, letters regarding the remedy will be sent once it becomes available, it added.The NHTSA noted that the recall follows an investigation initiated in January 2024. Stellantis has identified 437 customer complaints and field reports in North America that are potentially related to the issue. The U.S. auto safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced on Monday that it has opened an investigation into 287,000 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles due to concerns about intermittent loss of electric power steering (EPS) during gradual turns.The probe includes model year 2017-2018 Pacifica minivans, including some plug-in hybrids. During these events, increased steering effort is required to return the wheel to the center, the complainants alleged. Some also noted that this is followed by a sudden reactivation of EPS assistance, which may result in an oversteer condition.This behavior of the electric power steering could increase the risk of a crash, particularly at higher speeds, the NHTSA noted. Stellantis Stock Slips After US Regulator Probes 287,000 Chrysler Minivans Over Concerns Regarding Electric Power Steer

Stellantis NV (STLA) on Wednesday announced an investment of more than $41 million in a new Mopar Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Forsyth, Georgia.The company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/stellantis-to-invest-more-than-41-million-to-build-advanced-mopar-parts-distribution-center-in-georgia-302539314.html">said</a> that the center will be located about 60 miles south of Atlanta and span 422,000 square feet. Chrysler-parent Stellantis NV (STLA) on Thursday appointed Scott Krugger as the head of North American design amid sales decline in the region that drove down net revenues in the recent quarter.Kruger’s position was newly created, and he will <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/scott-krugger-to-lead-stellantis-north-america-design-302518766.html">report</a> to CEO Antonio Filosa.Stellantis’ business in North America has been on a decline. In the first half of 2025, the company pegged the 13% drop in net revenues to declines in the North American and Enlarged Europe regions.The company, which has a total of 14 vehicle brands, said earlier this week that its first-half shipments in North America fell 23%, mainly due to decreased production of imported vehicles, most impacted by tariffs, lower fleet channel sales, and production gaps resulting from discontinued models.Net revenue fell 26% while adjusted operating loss came in at €951 million ($1.086 billion), down from a profit of €4.37 billion reported in the corresponding period of 2024.
