Amphenol Reportedly Closes In On $10.5B Buy Of CommScope Broadband Connectivity & Cable Business — Retail Cheers Rumored Deal

Telecommunications firm AT&amp;T Inc.(T) has reached a $177 million preliminary settlement to put to rest a series of lawsuits stemming from data breaches that compromised the personal information of millions of its customers across the United States.A Reuters report said the agreement was deemed fair and reasonable by U.S. District Judge Ada Brown during a hearing on Friday in Dallas federal court, where the class-action lawsuit was being litigated.&nbsp;Depending on the specific breach and impact, affected customers may receive up to $2,500 or $5,000 for documented losses directly connected to the incidents.&nbsp;One of the incidents led to unauthorized downloads of approximately 109 million accounts, including call and text log data from 2022. This information was reportedly extracted from AT&amp;T’s cloud system managed via Snowflake Inc. (SNOW).&nbsp;The breach impacted a six-month timeframe, compromising nearly the entire customer base.In March 2024, AT&amp;T announced that it was investigating a data set discovered on the dark web. Initial findings indicated the data included information on 7.6 million current and over 65 million past customers.&nbsp;The compromised data appeared to predate 2020, likely originating from 2019 or earlier. Judge Reportedly Approves AT&T’s $177M Data Breach Settlement, But Retail Stays Cautious

AT&T Is Best-Performing Large-Cap Telecom Stock This Year But Retail Sentiment Languishes At 6-Month Low

Rumors of AT&amp;T, Inc.’s (T) interest in Lumen Technologies, Inc.’s (LUMN) consumer fiber operations sparked a sell-off in the latter’s shares in late-afternoon trading on Tuesday.&nbsp;On the other hand,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/T">AT&amp;T's stock</a> rose 1.30%, with the upside partly due to the optimism in the broader market.A Bloomberg report&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-03-25/at-t-said-in-talks-to-buy-lumen-s-consumer-fiber-unit">said</a> Tuesday afternoon that AT&amp;T has been in exclusive discussions to acquire Lumen’s consumer fiber operations in a deal valued at more than $5.5 billion.&nbsp;The report also noted that Lumnen CFO Chris Stansbury said at a conference earlier this month that building fiber-to-home and wireless gave large providers lower churn and more pricing strength and that the company’s consumer fiber business has generated great interest.The executive said any transaction will likely help the company lighten its debt load.The consumer optics space has been going through consolidation. In September, AT&amp;T’s peer Verizon Communications, Inc. (VZ) announced a $20 billion deal to buy fiber internet provider Frontier Communications Parent, Inc. (FYBR).Canadian telecommunications company BCE, Inc.
