According to a Bloomberg report, Anthropic was previously said to be looking to raise $5 billion, with its valuation expected to reach $170 billion.

Anthropic, on Tuesday, announced a new version of its AI model, the Claude Opus 4.1, just as rival OpenAI is getting close to launching its new GPT-5 model.The Amazon (AMZN)-backed company said the new model will be available to paid Claude users and in Claude Code. “It's also on our API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud's Vertex AI. Pricing is the same as Opus 4,”&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ANTHROPIC">Anthropic</a> said.The new model is also better at fielding complex multi-step problems, the company said, stating that Opus 4.1’s coding performance has improved to 74.5% on SWE-bench Verified. “It also improves Claude’s in-depth research and data analysis skills, especially around detail tracking and agentic search,” Anthropic explained.The company noted that Rakuten Group found that Opus 4.1 excels at pinpointing exact corrections within large codebases without making unnecessary adjustments or introducing bugs. OpenAI, Alphabet Inc.’s (GOOG) (GOOGL), and Amazon.com Inc.-backed (AMZN) Anthropic have reportedly been added to a list of approved vendors of artificial intelligence services by the General Services Administration (GSA).According to a Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-08-05/openai-google-and-anthropic-win-us-approval-for-civilian-ai-contracts">report</a>, the GSA is slated to announce on Tuesday, allowing the speeding up of the adoption of AI tools across the civilian federal government.An approval from the GSA would help U.S. federal agencies place requests through the Multiple Awards Schedule federal contracting&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.gsa.gov/buy-through-us/purchasing-programs/multiple-award-schedule">platform</a>, with terms of the contract already set. This allows federal agencies to adopt the said terms instead of each one of them negotiating separately with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. The report added that OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude were all tested across several performance and security measures.Other AI vendors could also be added to the federal marketplace, but the GSA said these three companies were just further ahead in the process than others, according to the report. “We’re not in the position of picking winners or losers here. This will give finance professionals instant, conversational access to trusted market data.The collaboration will enable users, such as hedge fund managers, private equity professionals, and investment analysts, to engage directly with S&amp;P Global’s insights through Claude’s GenAI platform.&nbsp;S&amp;P&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPGI">Global stock</a> inched higher by 0.03% on Tuesday morning.Kensho, the AI research division of S&amp;P Global, developed a server based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP).&nbsp;This open standard, originally introduced by Anthropic, connects large language models (LLM) with structured data sources. With Kensho’s LLM-compatible Application Programming Interface(API), Claude can now retrieve information such as S&amp;P Capital IQ Financials, corporate earnings call transcripts, and other select financial datasets directly within the conversational interface.By embedding S&amp;P’s data into the GenAI ecosystem, users can ask financial questions such as revenue growth trends, credit rating shifts, or market cap comparisons and receive answers grounded in vetted data.&nbsp;The effort is part of Anthropic’s broader Financial Analysis Solution, a targeted suite of tools designed to enhance decision-making for capital markets clients.&nbsp;The AI startup launched its AI-powered toolset, Financial Analysis Solution, integrated with Claude on Tuesday, to help finance professionals quickly analyze markets and build models.The solution also emphasizes security, with Anthropic stating that client data will not be used to train AI models.
