As part of the effort, more than 200,000 tertiary students across universities and vocational institutions will receive free access to Microsoft 365 Premium with Copilot for one year.&nbsp;</p><p>Microsoft said the initiative builds on similar programs introduced in the United States and aims to equip young people with practical AI experience before entering the workforce.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Ambition Meets Investor Skepticism</h2><p>Investors have grown cautious over the company’s ability to generate returns from its artificial intelligence investments and the adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot.</p><p>Microsoft is attempting to expand revenue through its AI-powered productivity tool, Microsoft 365 Copilot. However, uptake has been limited, with only about 3% of commercial Office customers currently holding licenses, said the report.&nbsp;</p><p>However, the company’s Azure division continues to expand, with revenue growth of 39% in the December quarter and a backlog of $625 billion in commercial commitments.&nbsp;</p><p><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/MSFT">Microsoft stock</a> traded over 1% higher in Wednesday’s premarket. This allows investors to proceed collectively in pursuing claims that Nvidia failed to disclose the scale of crypto-related demand embedded within its gaming business and misled shareholders about exposure to cryptocurrency mining.</p><p><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NVDA">NVDA stock&nbsp;</a>edged 0.1% lower in pre-market trade on Thursday amid weakness in the broader market. Plaintiffs argue that this led investors to underestimate the company’s vulnerability to swings in crypto demand.</p><p>In the Wednesday order, U.S. District Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. said Nvidia failed to demonstrate that its statements about crypto mining revenue had no impact on its stock price.</p><p>After the case was initially&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1045810/000104581026000021/R21.htm">dismissed</a> in 2021, it was revived on appeal and later survived a challenge at the Supreme Court. The latest ruling now allows the case to proceed toward trial. Instead of individual investors chasing allegations separately, a class certification allows them to pursue claims collectively.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Dispute Over Role Of Crypto Mining In Nvidia’s Gaming Revenue</h2><p>Since the lawsuit was initially filed in 2018, Nvidia’s position has been that crypto mining represented a relatively small portion of its business and that mining-related demand was largely tracked outside its core gaming segment.</p><p>However, according to the plaintiffs, a large portion of crypto-driven sales flowed through Nvidia’s GeForce gaming GPUs and was recorded within the gaming division, leaving the company more exposed to crypto market cycles than disclosed.</p><p>The filing points to Nvidia cutting its guidance in August 2018 after citing excess inventory and a drop in crypto-related demand. It also noted that Nvidia’s chief financial officer, Colette Kress, said following November that gaming performance fell short due to the slower sell-through of “post crypto channel inventory” and delayed price normalization following a “sharp crypto falloff.”</p><p>According to the complaint, Nvidia’s stock declined by about 28.5% over the two trading sessions following the November announcement, indicating a delayed recognition of the tech giant's cryptocurrency exposure. The certified class includes investors who purchased Nvidia shares between August 10, 2017, and November 15, 2018. A case management conference is scheduled for April 21, when the court is expected to outline the next steps.</p><p>“Investors who purchased NVIDIA in the 2017-2018 timeframe have done incredibly well, as our corporate strategy unfolded as we consistently predicted. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Goldman Sachs kept a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares.</li><li>DELL in a 10-K filing this week disclosed that it has slashed its workforce by 10% or 11,000 employees in fiscal 2026.&nbsp;</li><li>Goldman sees the reduction in workforce as supportive of the company's guidance for operating expenses.</li></ul><p>Dell Technologies (DELL) shares jumped nearly 2% during extended hours of trading on Friday after an analyst at Goldman Sachs raised the price target on the stock.&nbsp;</p><p>Goldman Sachs analyst Katherine Murphy raised the firm's price target on Dell Technologies to $195 from $180 and kept a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares.</p><p>Analyst in a research note to investors said that DELL disclosed that its headcount was down 10% year-over-year to 97,000 employees, the third consecutive year when headcount declined by 10%, which the&nbsp;analyst sees as supportive of the company's guidance for operating expenses to grow low single digits in FY27.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Headcount</h2><p>DELL in a 10-K filing this week disclosed that it has slashed its workforce by 10% or 11,000 employees in fiscal&nbsp;year 2026.&nbsp;</p><p>The company spent $569 million in severance payments in ​this period, compared with $693 million a year ​ago, its annual report showed. Dell had about&nbsp;⁠97,000 employees as of&nbsp;Jan. 31, down ​from about 108,000 employees a year ago. Its ​workforce had declined by about 10% in&nbsp;fiscal year 2025.</p><p>DELL, earlier this year, announced a 20% hike in its cash dividend and said that it will purchase an additional $10 billion of its own shares.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI-Enforced Layoffs</h2><p>According to a Reuters <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/world-at-work/meta-planning-sweeping-layoffs-ai-costs-mount-2026-03-14/">report</a>, technology giant&nbsp;Meta Platforms (META) was reportedly planning to slash about 20% of its workforce. The company laid off 11,000 of its staff in November 2022, or around 13% of its workforce at the time.&nbsp;</p><p>Mark Zuckerberg has been pushing Meta to ​compete more strongly in the generative AI field.
