Just four months ago, $SOL thought they’d hit gold with their Android-based Solana Saga, trying to ride the wave of mobile Web3 adoption. Originally priced at a laughable $1,000, they’ve now dropped it to a still-overpriced $599.
Sales of this “innovative” phone plummeted after its initial launch. And here’s the kicker: only a measly 2,100 unique Saga Genesis NFT owners have registered since April. That’s right, only 2,100 people were convinced to buy into this disaster. 🤦♀️
Solana Mobile tried to play it cool, suggesting that such price cuts are “common” in the industry. Sure, but usually for phones people actually want. They claim it’s all about making Web3 mobile tech more accessible and not a desperate bid to offload a dud product.
Those unfortunate enough to buy the Solana Saga at its original price are, understandably, feeling ripped off. And while Solana tries to pacify them with exclusive NFTs, it’s clear that the real value lies in not buying the phone in the first place. 🔖
