Stocktwits Top 25 – Week 33 📉

Good evening, everyone. Welcome to the Stocktwits Top 25 newsletter for Week 33 of 2021.

The Stocktwits Top 25 reports the 25 best-performing stocks in the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000 year to date (YTD). Our goal is to track the winners and losers over time.

Here are your Stocktwits Top 25 lists for Week 33:

ST Top 25 S&P 500

The ST Top 25 S&P 500 List broke its winning streak in Week 33.

14 of 25 names closed negative.

Bath & Body Works was the top-performing name on the list. The company is riding the highs from its successful spinoff. It’s also the the Top Dawg below.

Marathon Oil Corp collapsed 11.4% and moved from #4 to #12. $MRO was the worst performer on the list.

Nine Freshmen debuted. Here are the notable tickers; $MRNA, $BBWI, $GNRC, $HCA, and $LH.

The Stocktwits Top 25 S&P 500 Momentum Meter dipped 1.27% while the S&P 500 fell 0.59%. The 0.68% differential in favor of the full index stocks shows the leading stocks underperformed by a decent amount.

Nasdaq-100

ST Top 25 Nasdaq 100

The ST Top 25 N100 was the only list to remain in the green.

12 names traded higher. 

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals rallied to new highs. Check out $REGN in the Winners section.

Illumina had a rough go this week. $ILMN stumbled 5.92%, falling to #17 on the list.

Intuitive Surgical was the only freshman to appear on the list in Week 33. $ISRG increased 4% and is now ranked #22.

The ST Top 25 Nasdaq 100 Momentum Meter climbed 0.46% in Week 33 while the full Nasdaq 100 decreased 0.29%. The 0.17% difference shows the top stocks were a wee bit stronger than the full index.


Russell 2000

The ST Top 25 R2K list gave up the most in Week 33.

Just nine names traded green. Ouch.

AMC Entertainment re-took the top ranking on the list from Cassava Sciences. Looks like a showdown. 👀👀

Senseonics Holdings surged nearly 15% this week and worked its way up the ST Top 25 R2K leaderboard. You can catch this name on the Winners list below.

$IDT dropped 21.45%, $SAVA slid 15.1% and $MARA marched 6.9%. 

$DDS and $HOV were the list’s Freshmen.

The ST Top 25 R2K Momentum Meter plummeted 4.16% and the Russell 2000 index decreased 2.5%. The 1.66% differential suggests top stocks were much stronger than the full index.

ST TOP DAWG OF THE WEEK 🐶

The ST Top 25 Top Dawg for Week 33 is #5 S&P 500 – Bath & Body Works. 

Bath & Body Works popped 9.26% in Week 33 and entered the ST Top 25 S&P 500 list, ranked #5 as a Freshman.

The specialty retailer soared 10.5% on Thursday after reporting its first post-split earnings report. Here are the stats:

EPS: $1.35 vs $0.75 est
REV: $3.3B, +88% YoY

△ #12 N100 – Regeneron Pharmaceuticals ripped 6.15% to new weekly highs in Week 33. $REGN improved eight spots from #20 to #12.

Regeneron announced on Friday that the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency in the United Kingdom granted Conditional Marketing Authorization for the casirivimab and imdevimab antibody cocktail, known as REGEN-COVTM in the United States and Ronapreve® in the United Kingdom and other countries, to prevent and treat COVID-19 infection. The stock gained 1.17% on Friday.

△ #6 R2K – Senseonics Holdings was the top-performing stock across all three lists. $SENS’s 14.85% gain moved it from #20 to #6.

$SENS traded green four of five days this week and finished the week with a 9.8% gain on Friday.

$SENS is up 299.2% YTD.

The Sinners 📉

▼ #17 N100 – Illumina dipped the most on the ST Top 25 N100 List in Week 33. $ILMN fell 5.9% and seven spots on the list.

lllumina sold off 7.9% on Thursday after the company announced that it had completed its $7.1 billion acquisition of cancer detection test maker Grail Inc. 

The FTC will hold a hearing on the acquisition on August 24. The FTC filed a complaint in March trying to stop the purchase, claiming that Illumina is the only source of the DNA sequencing that Grail utilizes and that this may prevent others from joining the market.

▼ #12 S&P 500 – Marathon Oil Corp moved 11.4% lower and lost eight rankings on the ST Top 25 S&P 500 list.

$MRO traded negative Monday through Thursday before registering a small gain on Friday. The oil company traded to levels not seen since April.

Despite the losses, $MRO is up 60.7% YTD.


▼ #13 R2K – IDT Corp was this week’s biggest loser. The provider of cloud communications pulled back 21.5% from all-time highs… Yikes. 

$IDT opened lower three consecutive days this week and even closed 11.5% lower on Tuesday.
