September CPI hit 3.7% and PPI jumped 6.3%, both hotter than expected. What does the Fed do at its October meeting?

September CPI rose 0.6% from the prior month to 3.7% annually, while producer prices jumped 6.3% year-over-year, the biggest gain since 2022, putting the Federal Reserve's October 27-28 meeting squarely in focus after its first rate hike in three years last month. What does the Fed do at its October meeting? Vote and explain your reasoning in the comments.

No change would be the right thing to do for so many reasons, so that’s my guess. If we go any higher, we WILL begin to force large investors into bonds, share prices down, and companies to accelerate layoffs in a domino effect, but the current lending rate is also not egregious. Unfortunately, excessive spending is NOT the cause of our inflation, so you cannot combat the increased cost of NEEDS with higher borrowing. Truth be told, there needs to be a mechanism to tax gross revenues of companies on a progressive basis whereby the largest conglomerates pay the highest revenue tax (effectively a national sales tax borne by the companies), with a 2x domestic labor deduction (to make outsourcing and automation less attractive).

we need a .5 rate increase to stop the economy now. People have to learn to spend less, need less. Socialism will correct this for us. It's long overdue

Get more diplomacy than an overtired toddler, end the wars, and get oil prices down and watch inflation magically disappear, complete disconnect, there is not an overheated economy in my opinion.
