Looking at the Mag7 earnings, it's clear that the big increase in capex is supporting 30-40% growth in AWS and Asure, and all of these companies have noted that there is not enough compute currently. And yes, you can make an argument for more efficient models that will use fewer tokens in the future, but as we all know, there will be more advanced models that will use just as many, if not more, tokens in the future. If the data is correct and only five basis points of the global population is using AI currently, then the build-out is just getting started, and what does that look like to get to 5%? All of these companies see not coming in first as an existential crisis; if they are not at the forefront or winning in this race to build out and scale to meet demand, they see it as a threat to their existence.
