Bitcoin is the first successful internet money based on peer-to-peer technology; whereby no central bank or authority is involved in the transaction and production of the Bitcoin currency. It was created by an anonymous individual/group under the name, Satoshi Nakamoto. The source code is available publicly as an open source project, anybody can look at it and be part of the developmental process.  Bitcoin is changing the way we see money as we speak. The idea was to produce a means of exchange, independent of any central authority, that could be transferred electronically in a secure, verifiable and immutable way. It is a decentralized peer-to-peer internet currency making mobile payment easy, very low transaction fees, protects your identity, and it works anywhere all the time with no central authority and banks.  Bitcoin is designed to have only 21 million BTC ever created, thus making it a deflationary currency. Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 hashing algorithm with an average transaction confirmation time of 10 minutes. Miners today are mining Bitcoin using ASIC chip dedicated to only mining Bitcoin, and the hash rate has shot up to peta hashes.  Being the first successful online cryptography currency, Bitcoin has inspired other alternative currencies such as Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, and so on.  The cryptocurrency then took off with the innovation of the turing-complete smart contract by Ethereum which led to the development of other amazing projects such as EOS, Tron, and even crypto-collectibles such as CryptoKitties.

On Ethereum, all transactions and smart contract executions require a small fee to be paid. This fee is called Gas. In technical terms, Gas refers to the unit of measure on the amount of computational effort required to execute an operation or a smart contract. The more complex the execution operation is, the more gas is required to fulfill that operation. Gas fees are paid entirely in Ether (ETH), which is the native coin of the blockchain. The price of gas can fluctuate from time to time depending on the network demand.

Instead of publicly demonstrating spend-authority and transaction values, the transaction metadata is encrypted and zk-SNARKs are used to prove that nobody is cheating or stealing. Beauty, and Dr Pepper were the most popular consumer goods brands in their respective categories among American teenagers, according to a new survey published on Thursday.Piper Sandler's "Taking Stock with Teens" report, drawing on a survey of nearly 11,000 teens across 47 states about their clothing, food, and digital service preferences, found that loyalty to well-known brands remained strong.Nike continued to dominate as the top clothing brand, with Abercrombie &amp; Fitch-owned Hollister at number two and Brandy Melville, an Italian womenswear brand, a distant third among upper-income teens.Nike was also the top footwear brand, followed by Adidas and New Balance. The standing signals Nike's strong brand appeal amid an ongoing turnaround effort at the company. A Piper Sandler survey of 11,000 teenagers showed that loyalty to well-known brands remained strong.

Walmart Inc.-owned Sam's Club warehouses will now open for additional hours on Sundays, starting Oct. 12, and on some national holidays, the company said, mirroring a similar move by rival Costco announced in July.Sam’s Club stores will remain open from 8 am to 8 pm on all Sundays, up from the previous opening time of between 10 am and 6 pm, the company's communication director, Steven Zapata,&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2025/10/09/sams-club-new-store-hours-sundays/86603373007/">told</a> USA Today on Thursday. There's a caveat, though: only "Plus" members, the highest-tier-membership level, can shop during the first hour, from 8 am to 9 am.On Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and New Year's Eve, Sam's Club's closing time is extended by two hours to 8 pm. The stores will close at 6 pm on Christmas Eve, just like before.The move is in response to an "overwhelming feedback" from Sam's Club members, Zapata said, without elaborating. Walmart Takes Leaf Out Of Costco Playbook By Extending Sam’s Club Sunday Store Hours

Just like Costco reserves certain hours of the day exclusively for its premium-tier members, Sam's Club is keeping the first hour on Sundays for its "Plus" members.

Levi Strauss &amp; Co. reported a strong third quarter and raised its forecast for the fiscal year on Thursday. However, shares still declined 7.7% in the after-market session.There were no major negatives in the apparel company's earnings, but a slightly softer profit outlook for 2025 and recent stock gains over the past two months may have prompted some investors to take profits.On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment for&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/LEVI">LEVI stock</a> climbed multiple notches in the 'extremely bullish' zone, as of late Thursday, and 24-hour message volume rose over 1,500%. The company launched marketing campaigns featuring pop stars Beyoncé and Shaboozey during the quarter, and plans to lean into sports, with advertisements tied to the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup matches next year.Levi's now expects fiscal 2025 adjusted EPS in the range of $1.27 to $1.32, up from its prior forecast of between $1.25 and $1.30. The mid-point is below an estimate of $1.31, according to LSEG/Reuters. The company has assumed the impact of the U.S. tariffs in its projections.In Q3, the company's net revenue rose 7% to $1.54 billion, beating estimates of $1.50 billion. A slightly softer profit outlook for 2025 and recent stock gains over the past two months may have prompted some investors to take profits.
