JSW Infra subsidiary Ennore Coal Terminal receives ₹97 crore GST show cause notice

JSW Infrastructure Ltd | India’s second-largest private port operator and part of the JSW Group reported a strong 57% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to ₹516 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, aided by higher cargo volumes and contributions from recent acquisitions. Revenue for the quarter rose 14% YoY to ₹1,372 crore, supported by robust performance across coal terminals in Mangalore, Ennore, and Paradip, along with interim operations at the JNPA Liquid Terminal and the Tuticorin Terminal.

Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Infrastructure Limited on Monday (September 29) said its subsidiary, Ennore Coal Terminal Private Limited (ECTPL), has received a show cause notice (SCN) from the GST authorities, alleging tax contraventions amounting to ₹96.58 crore.

The notice, dated September 26, 2025, was issued by the Joint Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, Audit-II Commissionerate, Chennai, under Section 74(1) of the CGST/TNGST Act, 2017. The alleged contraventions pertain to the period April 2019 to March 2024.

As per the SCN, ECTPL is required to show cause within 30 days as to why GST of ₹96.58 crore, along with applicable interest and penalty, should not be demanded. The intimation of the SCN was received by the company on September 29, 2025, via email at 12:24 p.m.

JSW Infra clarified that there is no material impact on the financial, operational, or other activities of the company due to this notice. It added that the company maintains strong legal and factual grounds and is fully prepared to address and contest the SCN in any future proceedings, should they be initiated by the authorities.
