Mondelez (MDLZ) has recalled several batches of its Ritz crackers due to a labeling error that could potentially lead to allergic reactions in certain consumers, according to a company notice reposted on the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) website.

The recall is for four carton sizes of the cracker sandwiches produced in the U.S. and sold nationwide. The affected cartons include individually wrapped packs that may contain some peanut butter varieties mistakenly labeled as cheese.

The outer cartons are correctly labeled with a peanut allergen warning, but the individually wrapped packs may be mislabeled, according to the notice.

On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment for Mondelez shifted to 'neutral' from 'bullish' the previous day. MDLZ shares are up 11.4% year-to-date.

"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product," Mondelez said.

The error was attributed to defective film packaging from a supplier, and consumers with peanut allergies are advised to dispose of the affected products immediately.

According to Mondelez, there have been no reported injuries or illnesses related to this product so far.

In another notable packaged food recall, Kraft Heinz (KHC) pulled its Oscar Mayer turkey bacon products earlier this month due to potential contamination concerns.
