EV giant Tesla Inc (TSLA) said in a yearly recap video on Tuesday that it has started the production of its dedicated robotaxi offering Cybercab ahead of its launch in 2026.

Tesla in a video on Tuesday listed several achievements this year including the launch of cheaper Standard variants of its Model Y and Model 3, the launch of its robotaxi network, unveiling of the Megablock energy storage device, and launch of the refreshed Model S and X vehicles. “See y’all in 2026 – the best is yet to come,” the company said.

Cybercab Launch

According to Tesla’s third quarter update, the Cybercab as well as the company’s Tesla Semi truck are on schedule for volume production starting in 2026. The Cybercab is a dedicated robotaxi offering with no pedals, steering wheel or side view mirrors. Tesla CEO Elon Musk envisions that these cars will be “everywhere in the future.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed in November during the company’s annual general meeting that the company is looking to start volume production of the vehicles in April at its gigafactory in Texas. The CEO also added that the production lines would ultimately be able to make a unit every 10 seconds.

In addition to the Tesla Semi and Cybercab, Tesla is also looking to start volume production of its Optimus humanoid robots in 2026. The Cybercab and Optimus are key to Tesla’s pivot to robotics and artificial intelligence in addition to electric vehicle manufacturing.

Tesla’s Robotaxi Plans

Tesla started deploying robotaxis with a small fleet of Model Y vehicles equipped with its full self driving technology in Austin in late June. The vehicles were initially deployed with a safety monitor in the front seat to take over as required.

However, earlier this month, Musk said that the company has started testing fully autonomous driving in Texas with no safety drivers, highlighting that it's fast catching up to Alphabet Inc’s robotaxi unit Waymo, which already operates autonomous rides across cities.

Musk is now looking to complement the small fleet with the two-seat Cybercab vehicles.

Bull Take

Dan Ives, managing director at Wedbush Securities, reportedly said on Tuesday that Tesla Inc. (TSLA) is positioning itself for a pivotal year in 2026. Speaking to CNBC, Ives stated that he views 2026 as a milestone for CEO Elon Musk and the company’s broader strategy, highlighting autonomous technology as a key growth driver.

According to Ives, Tesla’s self-driving capabilities could create enormous value, potentially adding a trillion dollars to the company’s overall valuation and the company capturing roughly 80% of the autonomous vehicle market in the coming years.
