Unity Software Rallies By Over 14% After Hours On Fresh Q1 Revenue Guidance Above Street Expectations

The San Francisco-based video game software development company now expects Q1 revenue of $505 million to $508 million.

Shares of Unity Software Inc. (U) gained 14% after-hours on Thursday after the company raised its first-quarter(Q1)  revenue guidance, bolstered by its artificial intelligence-powered ad platform Vector.

The company also outlined plans, including divesting its game publishing business, to spur future revenue growth.

Fresh Guidance

The San Francisco-based video game software development company now expects Q1 revenue of $505 million-$508 million, compared to its former estimate of $480 million-$490 million, and above an analyst estimate of $488.69 million, as per Fiscal AI.  

Adjusted core profit for the period is expected to be $130 million to $135 million, compared to former guidance of $105 million to $110 million, and above the $109.40 million expected by Wall Street.

What’s Driving The Performance?

The revisions were driven by Unity Vector, the company’s AI-powered ad platform, among other factors, the company said.

"Unity Vector continues to deliver robust growth each quarter, driving results meaningfully above our guidance. Today’s actions will accelerate Vector’s impact on our business, enhancing both revenue growth and profitability,” said CEO Matt Bromberg.

Other Key Announcements

The company also said it is discontinuing its ironSource Ads Network, effective April 30th. After the first quarter, the company expects minimal revenue contribution from the network.

The company also said it has engaged a financial advisor to assist with the divestiture of its Supersonic game publishing business.

These changes are expected to spur revenue growth, and increased adjusted core profit, the company noted.  

According to data from Koyfin, 18 of the 27 analysts covering Unity stock rate it ‘Buy’ or higher while nine rate it a ‘Hold’. The average 12-month price target on the stock is $32.33, representing a potential upside of about 89%.

How Did Retail Traders React?

On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around U stock improved from ‘bearish’ to ‘bullish’ territory over the past 24 hours, while message volume increased from ‘low’ to ‘high’ levels.

U stock has fallen 22% over the past 12 months.
