Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. When the NAV premium shrinks toward zero, investors often find themselves trapped in the structure, a dynamic the analyst likened to a “Hotel California” scenario. The scenario implies that investors can buy into a fund with ease, but exiting becomes difficult.&nbsp;The report noted that, unlike ETFs, which trade closely around NAV, DATs layer on opaque, hedge-fund-like fee structures that can quietly erode returns. It warned that many investors underestimate these costs, which far exceed the 0.25% management fees charged by BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.&nbsp;The research firm also predicted that, with BlackRock seeking approval to stake ETH in its ETF, which would offer a low-cost source of yield, the economics of DATs could face increasing scrutiny.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Unrealized Losses Of BMNR, MSTR Investors</h2>The firm’s&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://update.10xresearch.com/p/is-tom-lee-s-bitmine-team-really-collecting-157-million-a-year">report</a> stated that&nbsp;Strategy&nbsp;investors have already lost roughly $20 billion in net asset value (NAV) since the company began buying Bitcoin (BTC), mostly at unfavorable late-2024 prices.&nbsp;It added that BitMine’s Ethereum (ETH) holdings are down over $1,000 per coin, implying $3.7 billion in unrealized losses even before accounting for the NAV premium public investors paid.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Pre-Market Gains For MSTR, BMNR Stocks</h2><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/MSTR">MSTR’s stock</a> gained more than 3% in pre-market trade on Thursday, with retail sentiment on Stocktwits trending in ‘bullish’ territory as chatter rose to ‘extremely high’ from ‘high’ levels over the past day.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin’s price</a> staged a modest recovery in early morning trade, edging 0.4% higher in the last 24 hours. When it does occur, it often reflects indecision and extended consolidation.”Thielen added that Bitcoin is approaching “the apex of a narrow bull market structure,” with a confirmed breakout implying a $50,000 measured-move target. “Repeated failure near $117,000 and breakdowns below $110,000 raise the risk of a deeper pullback,” he said, estimating a potential low around $80,000.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bitcoin’s ‘Uptober’ Turns ‘Downtober’</h2>Bitcoin’s price has recorded gains in 11 out of 16 available years. The strongest October performance was in 2015, with a 93.7% gain, while the worst performance was in October 2014, with a 12.2% decline following the fallout from the Mt. CoinGlass&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.coinglass.com/LiquidationData">data</a> showed that total crypto liquidations exceeded $860 million in 24 hours — $745 million from long positions and $122 million from shorts. Bitcoin accounted for $303 million of the total, while Ethereum (ETH) saw about $191 million liquidated. Official Trump (TRUMP), Ripple’s native token XRP (XRP), and Solana (SOL) were also among the leading names seeing leveraged bets wiped out.<h2 class="st-heading-2">MSTR Stock Surges After Q3 Results</h2>On the equities side, shares of Strategy (<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/MSTR">MSTR</a>), the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, edged up more than 6% in pre-market trade after the reporting its third-quater (Q3) results. The stock was among the top trending tickers on Stocktwits. On the platform, retail sentiment around the MSTR jumped to ‘extremely bullish’ from ‘neutral’ over the past day, as chatter surged to ‘extremely high’ from ‘normal’ levels.The company reported revenue of $129 million, above the estimated $117 million by Wall Street, according to Koyfin data. Its adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $31.27, at par with the consensus forecast.Meanwhile, shares of Ethereum-backed digital asset treasury (DAT) firm Bitmine Immersion Technologies (<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR</a>) were up 6%. It also saw ‘bearish’ retail sentiment, with message volumes at ‘low’ levels, over the past day.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Strategy Buys More Bitcoin</h2>Strategy acquired only $18.8 million worth of additional BTC on Monday, amounting to around 168 tokens. This is the company's smallest Bitcoin purchase since August. In March, the company also announced a $10.7 million purchase.&nbsp;It is worth noting that the company announced its biggest purchases of the year in July and August of $2.5 billion and $2.46 billion, worth of Bitcoin, respectively.One retail trader said MSTR’s stock, known for being a Bitcoin proxy, will rally again once the leading cryptocurrency’s price recovers to $130,000.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X">Bitcoin’s price</a> was trading at around $110,00 at the time of writing, up 0.7% in the last 24 hours. Strategy Makes Smallest Bitcoin Buy Since August, While BitMine’s ETH Holdings Surpass 3 Million

BitMine Immersion’s Ethereum holdings crossed 3 million tokens, now holding over $13 billion in combined assets. 

Kerrisdale Capital on Wednesday disclosed a short position on Tom Lee-led Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), stating that the digital asset treasury (DAT) playbook has become “basic and unoriginal.”<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> continued to gain in morning trade, up 1.5%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits, however, dipped to ‘neutral’ from ‘bullish’ over the past day.The equities market has seen a surge in companies pivoting to holding cryptocurrencies on their balance sheets as the Trump administration took a friendlier stance on regulation. “As near-idential copycats overwhelm the market, premiums are collapsing and the ability to issue shares well above NAV to boost&nbsp;ETH-per-share is disappearing,” the research firm said.Kerrisdale Capital pointed to Michael Saylor-backed Strategy (MSTR) as an example of reducing net asset value (NAV). “The OG DAT, MSTR, has seen its premium slide from 2-2.5x NAV to around 1.4x after unpopular financings &amp; policy reversals broke the spell,” it said. “If the pioneer with a cult following can’t keep the magic alive, no one can.”It added that BMNR’s&nbsp;premium has also been sliding lower, and will probably “continue bleeding” until it reaches or falls below the NAV. “The lower it goes, the slower the ETH-per-share accretion, until it collapses below 1,” the firm said.BMNR is currently the largest Ethereum holding DAT in the market with more than&nbsp;two million tokens in its treasury, followed by SharpLink (SBET),&nbsp;which has around 800 million tokens. According CoinGecko data, there are around 13 companies with Ethereum on their balance sheets. This includes companies like Fundamental Global (FGNX) and BitDigital (BTBT),&nbsp;which also announced the&nbsp;inclusion of&nbsp;Ethereum as a part of their long-term treasury strategy this year.In addition to reducing returns, Kerrisdale Capital also critiqued Lee’s leadership. “Tom Lee has proven to be an underwhelming meme lord. No cat videos. No speeches to mortgage your house to buy ETH,” it said. “Poor utilization of caps lock, emojis, GIFs, AI slop. BNB Token Surges To Record High, Overtakes XRP As Third-Largest Cryptocurrency

With a market capitalization of about $180 billion, BNB now ranks ahead of XRP, whose value stands at roughly $178 billion.

Spot market volumes have rebounded amid Bitcoin’s rally, according to on-chain analytics firm Glassnode. 

The Binance Smart Chain’s native token BNB (BNB) surged to an all-time high above $1,115 in early morning trade on Friday, leading altcoins in the broader cryptocurrency rally.BNB led&nbsp;the surge among major altcoins, up by 6.4% in the last 24 hours, despite paring some of its gains.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BNB.X">BNB’s price</a> was trading at around $1,107 at the time of writing. However, retail sentiment around the cryptocurrency on Stocktwits trended in ‘bearish’ territory even as chatter volumes rose to ‘normal’ from ‘low’ over the past day.&nbsp;Other major altcoins also advanced. Solana (SOL) rose 2.5%, Ethereum (ETH) added 2.4% to trade just under $4,500, and Ripple’s XRP climbed 2.1%. The overall market capitalization increased by 1.6% to exceed $4.3 trillion over the last 24 hours.
